Very little snow but cold, cold, cold. Don't let that sunshine deceive you. |
Since my water pipes froze and burst, I get paranoid whenever the temp drops.
A gorgeous sunny day but around 10 below zero. I hear MN is gearing up for
record cold. I grew up there..... Holy Yipes, how can it get any colder?
Yay for Colorado's legalized marijuana law. Do you recall the post where
I talked about my quarter-size patch of skin cancer on my face? I was going to
use blood root but I was indecisive because B.R. is so powerful and a
little scary. I use the commercial Hemp Oil on my face and I started applying
extra to the sore. Immediately it began to dry up and within 3 days a fairly
large chunk fell off. Within 2 weeks, it was just pink skin and I had been
fighting that for over 2 years. Was I positive it was skin cancer? Yes,
confirmed by 2 medical people. If we could make the oil ourselves, it
could be much more powerful. Watch Hemp Oil dissapear from the shelves
now. An herbalist here, who makes the Black Salve from blood root
that is sold in the health food stores has just been fined $90,000 by the Feds.
He's out of business .... just like they are trying to do with all supplements.
I'm reading a good book.... "The Brothers" by Stephen Kinzer. Follows
the lives of the Dulles brothers, Allen and John Foster and their dirty
little interventions into ruining other countries. John Foster, ego maniac
as Sec of State, was totally responsible for sending troops into Vietnam
after both Britain and France said it couldn't be won. Allen founded the
CIA and used it as his personal henchmen.
Today, Keith from "Musings of an Unapologetic Dreamer" asked the
queston, "Are people inherently good?" Here we have 2 brothers who
actually thought they were exceptional because of the way they
were raised and thought they worked for the good of the country. It
appeared that humility was never introduced into their lives and
through their one-sided view of the world, never took personal
account of all the blood that was on their hands by sending American
boys to foreign lands to kill innocent people and for WHAT REASON?
The US would have been far better off without the Dulles brothers. A
great read.
Hope it doesn't get any colder where you are! Here it's rain, wind, floods!
ReplyDeleteAnyway - wishing you a wonderful New Year! Take care

DeleteNo matter where one lives, winter is expressing itself all over. Wind, you say....... I dislike wind as much as I like honey.
Yeah there are nuts like them who think they are oh so great. Tried hemp seeds at my sea and yeah that didn't go over well, so screw that.
ReplyDeletePat
DeleteThey didn't agree with you? Mary Jo recommended them for me too once a day but I haven't had time to make smoothies lately. I wonder how else you take (took) them.
Pretty to look at, but glad I don't live there. It's cold enough as it is where I live. I'm glad that bit of skin cancer dried up and fell off your face. Happy Three Kings Day, Manzanita!
ReplyDeleteBish
DeleteWe haven't had much snow yet, which is unusual but we've had some terrrifically cold plunging temps. Three Kings Day.
I am very happy for Colorado's new law. I hope the rest of the states follow suite eventually. Happy Monday and stay warm Manzi :)
ReplyDeleteKeith
DeleteMe too. It's rather absurd to think that legalizing something is going to make people use that substance when they didn't before. Like if they legalizied cocaine, would I start using it? I think not. But the ones who use it when it's illegal will keep using it.
I remember your comment about the narcissistic personality on on my postings a while back. (You are your friend spent some time studying them only to find that they were basically all the same.) Sounds like these Dulles brothers fit that bill. The narcissist never does see themselves as anything but the hero in the story, do they? No matter all the bad things they do.
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the hemp oil and sad about the government working so hard to shut down herbalists (and anyone else who tries to solve health problems without a Rx).
Robin
DeleteYou remembered that I did say that Marilyn and studied narcissists for they are all like peas in a pod. But it seems like these Dulles dudes were certainy narcissistic but they were trained to think they were exceptional all the time they were growing up.
It's scary to think of a world wthout natural healing.
Hi Manzi. Wishing you a very happy and healthy new year. Yikes, that's pretty cold. Let's hope that your pipes hold up to it all. I really so agree with that last quote about growing older. We all know what the alternative is! I'm so glad that the hemp oil seems to have repaired the skin on your face. Amazing! Keep warm my friend and take care.
ReplyDeletethisisme
DeleteHolidays are over and you can relax a little. But I know you always have a lot going for you. I didn't know that hemp actually cured cancer but they can't advertise that. Then I found an e-book online and the whole thing is about the merits of hemp and how effeciently it cures cancer. I just stumbled upon it. But the author said if you can make your own oil it would be stronger and cure just about any cancer.
Amazing.... my word too.
Alas, I'm one of those Minnesotans today.
ReplyDeleteJoy
DeleteI'll have to check and see if you are posting on it. I had heard with wind chill, temps could hit 50 deg. below zero.
50 below?
DeleteFifty??
Y'all need to move to Australia.....
Karen
ReplyDeletesound like you'll have another book coming out soon. :)
Thanks..... Pink skin now... yay
Wonderful news about the hemp oil sending that cancer packing. Think I will see about getting some for just in case.
ReplyDeleteOdd you aren't up to you pits in snow. We are unseasonably cold here, no snow either, 8 degrees and high winds. Boy does wind take the fun out of going out.
Stay warm.
Patti
DeleteBesides putting it directly on the wound, I took 2 tb. orally everyday.
Oh, I suppose we'll get a lot more snow before the winter's over and we really do need lots of snow in the winter because it rarely rains here in the summer.
That is cod for your neck of the woods. I don't like to use the word "hate" but I do hate wind. Chinese medicine always says wind is bad for you too. They say to wear long sleeves to keep the wind off your arms. One day last week, I was afraid my car door was going to be blown off as I couldn't close it when I got out.
You need the snuggies now too. haha
Key West. Looking pretty good right about now.
ReplyDeleteAl
DeleteYou have much more snow than we do...... right at the moment. But that is only at "this moment." Ha.
And now? It's gone. But it's been raining cats and dogs.
DeleteWhich freaks MY dog right the frik out.
It's the coldest it's been here for at least 20 years. BF says 1989, but I can't verify that. He's calving, so he's gotta be outside. Me??? I'm by the fireplace knitting.... hahaha!!! I'm going out tomorrow and getting some hemp oil, just in case.
ReplyDeleteCalving? I'd hate to have to be out constantly in this weather too. I tried to take Cody for a short walk today and even with the sheep skin mitts, my fingers were numb. I wish I had time to knit. The little boy across the alley loves to be out..... crazy little kids..... and his parents are afraid he'll lose his mittens or that they aren't warm enough. He's not quite 2 and I've been wanting to knit him some mittens with a long cuff and strings so he won't lose them. I could knock them off in a couple hours if I had the time but I have to keep at this painting yet, from the frozen pipes. I drink the oil too. I take 2 tb a day.
DeleteIt is sad about the hemp oil. Many years ago, my wife's uncle developed a malignant growth on his leg. The doctors did not hold out much hope. Then, miraculously, he was fooling around in his garden and stepped on a hornet nest. He was stung numerous times on the leg and many of the stings were right on the growth itself. Within six months, it completely disappeared. He tried to tell anyone in the medical field that would listen, but nobody did. He died of natural causes 30 years later at age 97.
ReplyDeleteJJ
DeleteThere is something very medicinal about bee sting and their products. I have so many flowers in the summer and I notice all the bees. Last summer, I decided I want to get a hive this year but I don't know a dang thing about them so I've been reading and it sounds like a different vocabulary. That story you told is believable to me. I've heard similar stories about bee stings. But this was hornets. I've never heard any stories about hornets before. Nor am I surprised that no one in the medical field would listen to him. Whiy would big pharma allow anyone to be cured by a bug bite when they can charge them bigger bucks for their drugs.
We are buried in snow to
ReplyDeleteJohn
DeleteThat is what I hear. Some how this last snow storm missed us. Keep warm and keep shoveling. Haha
It is about they started legalizing it
ReplyDeleteHoly ghost
DeleteI really wish it were legal here, too. But still, the Feds can always come in any time they want, even if the State police were to leave one alone.
Your picture looks nice and cold. I just love a good snowfall.
ReplyDeleteLady Lilth
DeleteIt's cold..... that I can be certain of. Haha Not much snow, so far, this year. You can get out and in the snow and make angeles. LOL
Are people inherently good? That's a question I've often wondered about. I saw a study recently that showed that some children were more moral than others. I always thought children were taught to be good or bad. It seems that it's 50-50. Part nature, part nurture.
ReplyDeleteKay
DeleteI think so too, I usually feel the formative years training will be the dominate factor in a person but i've see some good moral people come out of horrible families. And then vice versa. Ha
I've been seeing the news reports here about the cold snap that is freezing America. I worry about all of you everytime.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear the Hemp Oil worked.
Inherently good? i would say most people, there are a few however who go off the rails in spite of good upbringing, then there are some who are "wrong" from the start and no amount of teaching will/can set them right. Those who do wrong on purpose, believing they are doing the right thing, well, they're a different breed again.
River
DeleteThat cold snap is a duezy this year. I'm still painting from the damage caused by the pipes freezing and breaking. This house is extremely old and the first time pipes have ever frozen. I do have my wood stove for back-up if needed but so many people have no back-up heat if the power goes off. The young couple who live across the alley from me, have a little kid and they put their money into decorating in place of an alternate heat source when living in a cold climate like this. I don't understand younger people. Power has been going off all over the country so why would they think it couldn't happen here in a cold snap.
I agree with your reasoning of "inherently good." Most of the time it follows a pattern but then just the opposite occurs so I guess there are other things that factor into the making of a human personality.
Just think of all the children growing up today who have been taught all along that they are exceptional while competing for the best schools and the best clothes and the best gadgets. Thank goodness some of them are being taught that everyone is equal. We shall see.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I'm skeptical of the new mj laws. We shall see again.
Rubye Jack
ReplyDeleteWell, you are a surprise. Have you been sailing around the world for the past year? It's great to hear from you again and I hope you are back to your thought producing posts. Nice way to begin the New Year.
Hurrah, I'm happy to hear your skin has cleared up!!!
ReplyDeleteI heard the other day that Christmas time is when pipes burst most often, and I thought of you. :/
Hurrah though too, for new pipes.
Rosie
DeleteThanks
Pipes are repaired but this house is a relic so one never knows. If the pipes ever let go again, the bulldozers will come in.
Happy new year. It certainly sounds as if you're in the middle of a real freeze up over there. Take care of your skin. That treatment sounds scary.
ReplyDeleteRosalind
DeleteCrazy weather throughout most of the US. I think there was a "crazy weather lottery" and the US won it.
Cold here too.... Although today we have a balmy 19 degrees. Things are looking up.
ReplyDeleteI know you are working your rear end off trying to get your painting done. Don't work so hard... take a break. EAT!! Love you!!!
Terry
DeleteIt warmed up here today too. You have to drive on Monday. Hope the weather stays warmer that week.
It would be a good thing to work my rear end off....Isn't happening though. Love you too and my best to hubs on his surgery.
The weather seems to have gone nuts everywhere! Hope it improves for you very soon.
ReplyDeleteMaria
DeleteNuts describes the weather perfectly. Nutty, like squirrly. It is a little warmer here today.
Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
Yes. It is really cold out. I have on so many layers it is crazy. I think it is more the wind then the actual cold weather.
ReplyDeleteLady Lilth
DeleteLayers really make a difference. Today I didn't mean to walk at that particular time, just run to the store and I just wore a coat. Then I decided, as long as I was out, I might as well take the dog down to the park and walk. The wind was blowing up my coat sleeves and waist because it was more of a dressy coat. I was wishing I had on my layers and a jacket. It was so windy on the walk that we both had to lower our heads and push into the wind.
Hmmm, I wonder if hemp oil might help my facial eczema. I've been following a regime by a naturopathic doctor. It's slow going but I can see improvement. 2014 the year of regaining health! :-)
ReplyDeleteSu-sieee
DeleteExcellent resolution. It won't harm it, I'm sure. Try it and keep me informed. I also took 2 tb orally, still do when I remember. But you live in Ca and can get it medically. Marilyn lives in Ca and she buys her hemp oil at the farmer's market from a guy who makes and sells it. I think the home made stuff has more power. I think medical marijuana is legal in Mt state too but you have to have a doctors order and most of them would still rather give you drugs or in my case, "cut on my face."
Hey Manzanita,
ReplyDeleteI'm moving to Colorado. Yay! :) I wish to report we in Britain are getting the impact of the polar vortex. In our case, as noted by the typing cat that is Old Kitty, we are getting lots of wind, as in that type of wind. Luckily, we aint getting those frigid temperatures.
Nice to know your radiant complexion has returned. And humility, compassion, are foreign words to the smug, arrogant buffoons of this world. We shall send you over David Cameron. Good luck with him.
Have a peaceful weekend, dear friend.
Gary :)
Yay, then you'll be my neighbor when you move to Colorado. Ha My radiance has returned. Who could ask for anything more? (also a song)
DeleteWe are having that type of wind now too. Cody and I nearly blew over on our walk. I watch her hair standing straight back as we went into the wind.
If you send us Cameron, he will be in a lot of his own company here.
You sure could teach us a lot about natural cures. I didn't know it was even possible to purchase hemp oil or seeds... or that it had any medicinal properties vs. skin cancer. I did read a paper years ago about the many legitimate uses of hemp in the early days of the country. Who knows? Maybe it'll be legal in most of the country some day, but I don't see it happening in GA any time soon. I'm glad your skin looks better, but are you planning to let a doctor check it?
ReplyDeleteThat book about the Dulles brothers sounds interesting. I just finished another book you'd probably enjoy. It's called "Presidential Picture Stories", and it has photos and behind-the-scenes presidential stories from Wilson to Obama. Fascinating stuff!
Take care, and happy weekend!
Susan
ReplyDeleteAs easy as drugs are to buy, I don't think people are going to start smoking it just because it's legal, do you? The ones who smoke it, always will...... regardless, and the ones who don't, never will. But it would be a a wonderful cure for many diseases BUT do you think big pharms is also behind this?
I've been reading my way through the presidents for a while, now. Really an eye opener. I just got side-tracked with the Dulles brothers. The author, Stephen Kinzer, is on some YT vids if you want to get a good review. Makes me understand when the intervention craze started. Also Charles Lindberg was a non-interventionist and he's another one I love to study..... not for his airplane flight but for his politics.
I'll certainy look up the book you suggested. During this last move and the flood, I disposed of at least 600 books and I rarely read fiction. Many of my books are really old and out of print (although I bought them new)...haha that tells you something) . I usually check the price, etc before i get rid of them. I had 4 flamenco books in the OUT pile, checked and I was shocked at their price now. It's better I do that now because my kids would never check them. haha Of course, then one has to find a buyer for the books. I hate parting with my books but it has to be done.
We've been spending time with -40 temperatures in the land of the Bear But so far, no burst pipes. Thankfully.
ReplyDeleteAnd while the Dulles brothers may be gone, there are lots more like them around. Be warned!
Blessings and Bear hugs.
Bear
DeleteI've heard that weather report about Canada and each time I remember how cold you said you had it too. BUT you have your new nice warm bear-cave with new pipes where you can snuggle up to the fire.
There's a Dulles-act-alike born every minute. :)
Hi Manzanita .. your weather has sounded positively ghastly ... we are surrounded by water and are now a nation of tiny islands ... but at least it's warmish ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best for 2014 - Hilary
Hilary
DeleteI recall a couple years ago when we all wanted some rain or moisture of any kind. The weather seems to go to extremes a lot. Stuff happening from the sun that I don't understand.
Now we have had the strongest wind for almost a week. You just sort of fall forward into the wind and it supports you. I glad you have some mild and warmth.
I worry about our pipes freezing and we don't often get that cold.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the world uses herbs and supplements and they work. Shame our government has to over-regulate everything.
Alex
DeleteIf it happens once, you are afraid to leave your house unattended for any length of time in the winter. I was home at the time and still, the whole main floor was flooded. It is a worry.
Natural is the way to go for many people. Hope it will never have to be underground. Ha
Thanks for stopping by.
I so enjoyed this post! Natural healing has been in my mind for some time now. Just need to put it into actions.
ReplyDeleteSusan
DeleteI don't watch a whole lot of TV but if I'm home I try to turn on Doctor Oz and see what he's touting. I do respect him because he is a medical man, who embraces all the natural healing too. Today he had on as guest that Dr. Treamona (sp) Low Dog, who is allopathic medical doctor and herbalist. Are you familiar with her?
Dear Manzanita, thanks for the tip about the Hemp Oil. Is that the brand name? I have a rare skin cancer called "mycosis fungoides" and I'd like to try this oil and see if it helps.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for the review of the Dulles book. I'll look for it at the library. I so remember those two men. Dunderheads. Peace.
PS: I've been away from blogging for several weeks and so have missed all your postings during that time. If you have any you'd like me to read, please let me know. Peace.
Dee
DeleteI was really surprised the commercial hemp oil helped me as I thought it had to be stronger. I ordered a book from Amazon " Natures Answer for Cancer" by Rich Simpson but it only comes in e-book. The kindle is ok for fiction when I just keep reading but I way prefer a real book when I want to hop around in the pages. I didn't read the whole book, just tried skipping around. The guy (author) seems older and not a writer but was in the medical field and seems to know a lot about hemp (marijuana). He gives recipes for making your own oil and there's a lot of information that I want to read but it was during the time when my pipes burst and I didn't have time to read it through. He talks about THC being in the hemp and that is what cures the cancer. That is why I didn't think this commercial oil would work. It's found with the cooking oils and I'm sure it wouldn't be sold if it were very potent. Also look up the comments for it on Amazon and you can see what others say. No one had mentioned that it cured skin cancer but just said it is good for the skin. I was just putting it on my face when the weather was so cold and decided to douse the skin cancer patch, not expecting any real results. I would make my own if the hemp were legal but who wants to get arrested?
Black salve made from blood root really works well on skin cancer. It is very powerful but you have to be careful where you put it. Also look on YT at Black salve and see the pictures of the healing. They are a little gruesome to look at but the salve actually goes in and pulls out the root and it heals over beautifully. My acupuncturist has used it on patients with good results and I bought some and she was going to supervise but mine was so close to my eye that I chickened out. You can check those 2 out. I'd like to hear more about your skin cancer. I'm always interested in medical things.
As far as my posts, I'm just barely hanging in there and don't post very often. This water damage has consumed all my time so I've not posted a whole heck of a lot.
Keep me informed as i'm really interested.
Dear Manzanita, I will keep you informed. The mycosis fungoides skin cancer I have appears in patches on my skin and can be misdiagnosed as a simple skin irritation. I'm in stage 1 and have had it for several years. But in 2011 I did a 3x a week light treatment for ten months and it went into remission. Now it's reoccurring. At stage one, it appears on the top layer of skin as a large red "rash-looking" patch. At stage 2 it goes deeper into the skin and at stage 3 it becomes deadly and enters the body's organs.
DeleteI'll read what you've suggested and get either the hemp oil or the black salve or both and see what happens. In early February, I have an appointment with the dermatologist who's helped me since 2011 and so I'll ask her to share her thoughts with me on this. I'm thinking she's going to want me to start the light treatments again and I'll do that if necessary. Thanks for all your help. I'll keep in touch. Peace.
I got a bottle of Hemp oil back home that I am going to give Dennis as soon as he gets out of the Cleveland Clinic. How much should I give him? Hopefully it helps with the pain. I will be posting about it if it does.
ReplyDeleteMy love to you !!!!!
Terry
DeleteAre you still in Cleveland? I was thinking about Dennis yesterday. How did it go? I really have my doubts about the commercial hemp oil being strong enough or have the THC which is what does the real healing. But it's worth a try. I didn't think it would help my skin cancer either. I took 2 tb. a day. Look on the Amazon comments as many of the people say they take it orally but I don't think anyone ever mentioned it for cancer. Read my comment above to Dee. I mentioned the book I got the info from.
Marilyn's sister-in-law died from pancreatic cancer a few years ago and at the end none of the drugs would stop the pain but California has medical marijuana law and that was the only thing that gave her any peace from the pain. They put it in brownies. The law was passed making it illegal in 1937 (I think). I can remember it growing wild around where I lived and the farmers wanted to get rid of it because they didn't want the livestock eating it.
You'll be busy being a nurse when you get home, but call me when you can.
Love you, Manzi
