Go'n a Little Country

  Sunday morning came my way
In the X-Terra to spend the day
Over two passes a mountainous climb
Came into scenery oh so sublime

Blew into Bozeman nine thirty exact
My relatives waiting, that was a fact
We laughed and we danced, acted most silly
Nana turned country, bizarre, willy-nilly

Cody slept in the back and didn't give a bark
Back home to my chickens before it grew dark
A day in the life of a silly old broad
The song is by Ashly and the Broad ain't no fraud

  1. This made me smile.

Not sure why, but it made me think of all the times as a teenager I spent dancing around my room and singing.

Maybe as we get older we also get younger????

Maybe we just "try" to get younger and make a fool of ourselves doing it. LOL
      But do I care? Naw

  2. Love the little dance! Looks just like what I do moving around my kitchen and living room when something good is on the radio. Ashley sounds good too. I hope I can still do this twenty years from now.

I do believe that all of us who appreciate a good music beat and like to dance, dance around the house but of late years, I don't even care who points a finger and laughs at me. LOL

Country music has never really been my thing but this is my granddaughter's song and it's hard to sit still to her happy country music.
Shake and shoulder shrug... is that like "shake and bake bauble?

I've thank you. It's fun to dance around the house but country is not my cup of tea. I've been teaching a little flamenco again but it's difficult to post the flamenco because of copywrite for the music.

  15. Loved the poem and that Ashly can sing. That dance looks a lot like what I tend to do on occasion around the house only not nearly as smooth.
Best way to exercise ever and fun too. You go girl.

I agree that free style dancing around the house is one of the best forms of exercise. River said she does it too. If we all lived close we could have a dance line. Haha
A few years back, I taught an adult ladies jazz class and we had some snazzy little routines and entertained at nursing homes, business store openings, etc. Not for profit but just for fun. The gals still talk about those days and say it was the best fun ever.

  17. Well, darn. We blew it. We should have asked you to contribute a poem or two to our "Old Broads Waxing Poetic." You'd fit right in!

I love your little dance, too. It might not be as challenging as some of the dances you've done in the past, but it expresses sheer happiness.

By the way, I've been meaning to ask you. Did your blog title come from the line an old vaudevillian used to use in his act?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Susan
Yeah it came from an old commedian of the 20's, Joe Penner.
I only rhyme and that is why I do a rhyme every day at Pat's. It just keeps me alert. Ha
I just threw that little country dance in because it's my granddaughter's song. I don't ever think of any of my dances as being challenging..... I just don't mind making a "fool" of myself is a way to say it. LOL

    2. Joe Penner... yeah, that's it! Not long ago, I read a terrific memoir by Norman Lear, and he wrote about some of the old vaudeville stars he worked with it it. When he mentioned that "Wanta buy a duck" line, I immediately thought of you and your blog.

At the time I was looking for a different name and somewhere back in the recesses of my black little mind I remembered this phrase. If I ever saw Joe Penner in an old movie, I don't remember but there are some clips in videos of him from his old movies. In one he is sitting by a pool and singing to a duck. Four years ago, when I first started blogging, I was asked where I got the name. I did write a post about it back then but I can't seem to find it. Ha
By today's standard for humor, Joe Penner seems really corny but I guess he was pretty popular in his time.
You are a wonder, Susan. LOL

    4. Yeah, my husband shakes his head and wonders about me all the time...

      (I LIKE corny!)

You'll be leaving on Tuesday. That is also my daughter, Amy's birthday. I miss posts all the time as I'm still busy outside because the weather turned nice again and today Ashly came over and we trimmed all the evergreens and hauled away stacks and stacks of branches, drained all the big water containers, put up some electrical outlets in the chicken coop, and the real biggie......swept and rearranged the junk in the garage so now it's easier for me to go through the bins. We also put more hay bales around the chicken coop and that was a full work day. Feels good to get that much work done in one day.
      See ya soon.

  20. Dear Manzanita, I didn't respond to comments on my last posting--just one generic response for all. But I wanted to thank you for sharing with me that the drops have irritated your eyes so much that you've simply stopped taking them and have accepted that ultimately you will go blind.

That's something I need to think. Need to consider. Things do seem better each day and all is fine until I begin to watch television in the eyes. Then my eyes get so dry and itchy. A nd they burn. I don't know what that is all about. I have another appointment in early November and so perhaps I'll learn more than. I don't think there are many other--if any--drops to try. Peace.

I don't know if you'll come back here so maybe I'll put this on your blog too.

I tried different drops too but I always walked around with squinty, dry, burning eyes and yet I was losing ground on the sight, too. So I just quit and my eyes feel so great now. I may be losing ground now too, especially in my left eye but it so gradual, if it's happening at all so I thought I'd gamble, that it would take it's time and I would die first in place of going through that constant eye agony. I also take some natural supplements. Right now I take ProDHA Eye. You can look it up on amazon. Let's move to Colorado and we may cure both our skin cancer and glaucoma.

In your dream I hope we were dancing a duet. dada da da da dum. I hope your dream was a good one. LOL
My dancing these days consists of just fooling around or rather "making a fool of myself." Although, I am teaching Flamenco again. We're working on a Caracoles, in fact, I just choreographed one escobilla in my head before I went to sleep last night. Now I have to try it with shoes and see if it works. hahaha

  24. Hey Blue
Thanks for making it over. I know every little movement can be an extreme effort when one's energy is compormised. You got some pretty sound tips from Pat ad Desmond. I agree with them 100%. Eating out is such a special social event but also so bad for good health. My husband loved to eat out (of course, who wouldn't, given the choice of that or my cooking?) I would take a slice of my seed bread from home in a baggie and order perhaps a small dinner salad while husband enjoyed his meal. I would eat when we got home but it kept husband happy and often we can't convince people otherwise. Each person is responsible for their own life and whatever path they choose is not for us to object. I would never interfer with another's karma but you, on the other hand, plainly send the message that you would do anything to be free of pain. The big difference between you and my husband is that he "knew" he was on a self-destruct path and he really didn't care. With those people, no matter how much it hurts me, I just have to let go. Often we don't realize that it is the simple things that keep us going...... for instance, the daily care and water I give your birthday plant come summer.
