Raw Sweet Potato Soup

Here is a video of Terry and me making raw sweet
potato soup. We were, more or less, playing around
and using the soup as a prop but, no kidding, it is
delicious and just in time for Thanksgiving.

We used raw sweet potatoes, onion, garlic, a little nama shoyu (or any form
of salt),  a little chili powder, and water. We dumped everything into the
Blendtec blender, put the setting on soup and were rewarded with a beautifully
 orange tasty soup.

Terry, from "My Journey with Candida" has been visiting Montana for
the last month.  We dabbled in many areas......making videos, being
one of them. LOL

Then that would be "uncooking show to kill off pesky buggers." That is my idea of cooking, throwing everything into a blender. LOL

  2. Never would have thought of sweet potato soup.
Then again, never would have thought of sweet potato fries, either.
    They're delicious.

Yeah, those SP fries are really delish snack. The soup is sooo good. I tried being completely raw for 2 years but it doesn't work well for some older people. My body craved some cooked food. Now, I use a combo of anything and everything and I still enjoy some of the raw recipes.

It really is a good, quick soup to make. From my old years of trying to be completely raw.

I hope it turns out well for you too. It is sooo easy but that blender helps too. It's so powerful I always hold the cover. Fool me one... etc. My son said his top blew off the blender too when it wasn't on perfectly straight. Ceiling soup. LOL

I love sweet potatoes too. Costco had these organic ones and they do carry them from time to time. I do try to buy all organic and I notice more and more stores are having organic areas.
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family

  12. I love making videos. I do a history website, and I've interviewed some people about history in the area where I live. Some are pretty good and some not so much :)
Hope all is well with you.

My next to dancing subject is history. Although since I've gotten so dang old and can't dance anymore, I think history is now #1. LOL I'd love to see your history website.... where do I find it.

Our soup was a little warm fron the soup setting on the blender. I'm glad you made it home with safety. Thanks for calling. I did try to call but I know how busy you must be with the hiliday coming so near too.

  15. And you eat this soup cold? Because if you heat it the ingredients would cook. I don't think I could handle raw sweet potato, I do make a nice sweet potato and pumpkin soup though, at least once every winter.

I ate only raw for a couple of years and this is a recipe from that era BUt just about every person who eats raw own a high speed blender, either a vitamix or a blentec. They are amazing blenders and on the soup setting, it beats raw food into a creamy consistecy and also heats the food.... not like boiling hot but a comfortable warm.
Your sweet potato and pumpkin soup sounds delish. I've made a hot pumpkin soup for Thanksgiving but not combined the two. I bet is is a hit.

I know what you mean.... I always wonder what someone's voice sounds like too, especially when they live across the world. LOL I used to be a fan of hot and spicy but it doesn't especially match older age. ha Sorry to hear you have rosaces. I think I've heard that both extreme hot or cold is bad for it.

It's hard for me to tell the difference between the sweet potato and squash and they both even taste much like pumpkin in soups. Of course pumpkin in the traditional pumpkin pie has so many traditional spices that it does have that definite spice flavor.

I use the Blendtec almost every day and i've bought them as presents for for all my kids and grandchildren. The Vitamix was the first and the name became the most popular but it's just a little taller and won't fit on most counters and I always want mine handy. They are not exactly inexpensive but they are an important tool for anyone who is into good health. The instructions never say this, but there is so much power that I have learned to lightly rest my hand on the lid when it runs. I found out the hard way and so did my son with his..... and it's no fun cleaning soup off the ceiling. Haha
It's by no means, a defect in the machine but we get in a hurry and don't always put the lid square on.

  21. You cheat? Say it ain't so ;) Oh I looooooooooooooove ginger! Can't have enough ginger in my book, Manzanita. You're so right... no one wants to listen to a loud blender. My Bollywood Princess sometimes presses that red button and I'm as awake as a priest on um.... Monday.

You have a good week, too!

Oh God, why did I admit that. You'll blackmail me. lol But I don't cheat much. I was at Costco and saw some kind of confection of dark choc. with nuts in an attractive bag. (Lesson #1... don't go to the store when hungry) I loved dark chocolate BBL (before bad liver) and tossed the sweet-lov'n bag in my cart. I ripped into the bag on the drive home and made myself sick. When home, the neighbor came over and I tossed the bag at him and said, "bury this or I may even dig it out of the garbage." He later told me how delish. it was. Oh well.....

Bollywood Princess needs her morning health drink. Grind away little blender. Haha
