Glimmers

          We either make ourselves miserable
           or we make ourselves strong.
         The amount of work is the same.
                                         by Carlos Castneda

Often times we are sick, but because it comes on so gradually, we have
no idea it is happening. It begins with fatigue. For two years, I had a
ton of stress, dealing with disposing of properties and a life collection
of "stuff." When it was over, I realized what a terrible toll it has
taken on my body. Through detox cleanses, herbs and supplements,
I am slowly regaining little bursts of energy that I wasn't even aware I
had lost. At times, I can feel the surge of radiant health in my
legs by wanting to stretch out and take longer strides. It is only a
peep and a promise, like walking past a wood fence with
knot holes and catching a glimmer of what's on the other side.
How delightful!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a very, very short vid that I promise will add joy
to your day.
      Stress can really cause havoc wth a persons system. I believe you are stepping in the right direction. It just takes so
      darn long.
      Something you just said jarred a forgotten memory of a silly song we used to sing as kids.
      When looking through a knot hole of Scotties wooden leg
      Why do they build the shore so near the ocean, the ocean. ....etc.
      Talk to you soon.
    I have to say too (re: my post today): How very thoughtful of you to remember my memories made as a child were with my grandmother. That was very nice, actually. Thank you, Manzanita. :)
      The liver cleanse helped the most. I'd do that again and I do want another with all your herbs that you chew. I'll chop mine in the coffee grinder and put in a capsule. You are hard core. No wonder you are so healthy and cute.
One of my daughters has been having real problems with her back and they are unable to operate. I'm probably totally imagining it, but did you mention about a book some time ago!! Perhaps you could e mail me on thisismegodwell@hotmail.co.uk
  5. As you well know, stress took a huge toll on me, too. All of that chronic stress led to an ongoing migraine. Now that I am not on all of the meds and eating better, things are improving. It is baby steps. I suppose you don't undo ten+ years of bad in a few months. I am wondering if I should try one of these cleanses of yours... However, I am such a newbie I have no idea where to even begin.
      I think stress is responsible for a lot of ills in our body. Large cities do give me more stress than a small town. All the noise, the sirens....... it's so jarring on us. I consider Helena a small town but it is growing and I've noticed more sirens lately. Years ago I rarely heard one. Everyone can benefit from a detox cleanse. BUT when the herbs are pulling the toxins from the cells, it's uncomfortable, kinda like a flu and if people aren't aware of what is happening, they get scared and end up in the emergency room. There, an allopathic doctor may tell one, that they should not take herbs. So if you ever do go on one, bone up on what to expect so it won't frighten you and when it's all over, you will feel wonderful and have a lot more energy. Do you stay away from gluten?
  6. Stress is indescribably destructive. Thing is that it's invisible to everyone but me, the one falling to pieces under the load. It's taken years to recover most of what I was, but I am grateful for that much.
      I know what you mean. I see these young mothers who have kids and work and then keep up a house and get meals. Now i would call that a LOT of stress. How do they do it? I never worked and raising kids is still stressful . I was highly organized.... always had a week's menu posted, all the kids household jobs rotated weekly and posted. Always a lot of driving and all the schedules posted for that. I went to college for 10 years and tried to work that inbetween running a household. I couldn't have worked. Impossible for me to have been a good mother if I had worked. My house was more than a full time job. Feminism...phooey. I loved my home job but it is as much stress (if one does a good job) as working outside the house.
      Oh yes. I am usually very faithful about detoxing my body but I had so much responsibility and so little time and too much worry. Every thing always turns out so I don't know why I worry, but I often feel overwhelmed.
      I'm glad you understand cleansing. So many people do not.
      There are so many homeless people on the streets with signs. I have become such a non-trusting person in my old age. Often I want to help them but then I think they may go around the corner and jump into their expensive auto, pull off their disguise and drive off to a very comfortable house. Shame on me if they are truly what they indicate and yay, I called that right if they really do leave by expensive auto.
    I'm feeling that right now and recognising it too, time to start slowing down and resting more. Which won't happen until after my visit to my sister, so in the meantime I'll be putting my feet up more and going to bed earlier instead.
      I know how much you are looking forward to your visit to your sister's house. I just returned from staying at my son's house over our Thanksgiving. Packing and traveling has always been stressful for me. I had to leave the cat and be sure she had enough food and water and take Cody's food with me. The visit was lovely and most enjoyable but I was glad to get back home to my routine too.
      That particular video caught my eye for several reasons. The gal who helped the blind man was really attractive and yet she wasn't stuck on herself. She gave up her time to help this man. I find that not all sophisticated young women would go out of their way to help someone.
      I took Cody, the dog, to the vet today.... mainly to get the rabies shot so she can get her dog lic. She too, has some old age problems and the vet wanted to give her drugs. I asked if there were any herbs she would recommend. The vet said, she knew nothing about herbs. That is reasonable because tey are never taught to use herbs in med. school.
      It fluctuates with the market. I was going to answer some sassy answer but I can't think of one clever enough right now. A day ago, I was down at the fair grounds tossing the frizbee for Cody. We were in an open field like space. I saw the most spectactular thing. Four huge, huge, huge formations of ducks were flying my way. I could hear the quacking as they approached. They can really quack loud while they are flying. They kinda merged together but could not do it completely. There were far too many. They flew directly over me and it darkened a little like a cloud passing over. Oh how i wish I'd had my camera at that moment. I tingle yet when I think of the beauty of their absolute perfect formation and I always wonder how they pick the head duck. They circled the park and the ducks that stay by the ponds all winter, answered the flying ducks quacking. I wonder if they asked for directions because they actually went back the direction they came from.
      Thanks for popping in.
  18. I'm fairly sure that ducks are like geese and fly in rotation, When the lead duck/goose gets tired he drops back to the end of the vee and the next duck/goose takes over. So there is no leader as such, they co-operate in harmony.
      Makes sense to me. But as they flew low over me, I was sooo amazed at the perfect spacing between them. I bet no one was off a centimeter. Some one said I was lucky I didn't get pooped on. Hahaha. I've seen ducks flying in formation before but never so many and so low to the ground. Long after they had gone, the local ducks were still quacking. I wonder why some stay all winter. There is a smallish lake that must be spring fed because there is big open water spaces and I see the ducks gathered there all winter.
      That whole scene was pretty special to see.
      Wonderful. Are these herbs you grew in your garden or did you purchase them. Or do you mean they are growing in your garden now? All growing here is kaput until next summer. Very bitter cold today. I went to the drive up awindow at the bank and tried to open my window but it was frozen. I parked and went inside and the teller said 90 % of the drive up people today had frozen windows. Geez.... it had rained before the temps drop.
      Hugs back at ya.
    As far as your first, I haven't been feeling good for a while now. I haven't been sick, necessarily. I just don't feel GOOD, like something is off-kilter with me. We went to my sister's house for Thanksgiving and (I am NOT kidding!) when I closed my eyes Thursday night, the thought occurred to me that I may not wake up (seriously, NOT kidding). I was horrified by the prospect of THAT happening in my sister's house: "Mom! Mom! Uncle Al is dead!" First time I ever felt that way and I still feel like "something isn't right." So why am I telling you this? I don't know...maybe to explain an unexplained absence at Penwasser Place. Good grief, now THAT'S morbid.
      Yours could be stress related too. I used to do a lot of retreats, meditation and quiet times to try to calm me when I lived in a large city. Worry is a huge stress maker too. I was doing wonderfully good with stress management when I moved to a small town but then things beyond one's control pop in and wammo, you might as well be living next to a train track. For one thing, our responsibility with our kids should end when they are out on their own but as parents we feel we want to "fix their problems" even though they don't ask for our help. I try never to interfere but it's worse, I still silently carry their probems around with me.
      Whatever it is, I hope you can shuck that feeling and read your own posts . They are a cure..... laughter is the best medicine.... remember?
It's so important for us to choose the kind words, the loving words, the helpful words, the cherished words when we speak to others-----and to ourselves. And I'm so happy to learn that you are being patient with yourself as you come again into the land of good health and energy. Moving and packing up a house and riding ourselves of the detritus of a lifetime takes so much energy and we are left depleted. Please be gracious to yourself. Peace.
    Thank you for the kind comment. Yes, it was a struggle for me. I had 3 houses, each full of treasured memories of my life time. Hare to dispose of and even more, it took heavy labor to struggle with the contents. I didn't have time to pace my work because the houses sold immediately and contents had to be disposed of. It took many sales and giveaways to thrifts. Ta dum....
