Marilyn just sent me this
The Geography of Women
Between 18 and 22 a woman is like Africa, half
discovered, half wild, fertile and naturally beautiful.
Between 23 and 30, a woman is like Europe, well
developed and open to trade, especially for some-
one of real value.
Between 31 and 35, a women is like Spain. Very
Hot, relaxed and convinced of her own beauty.
Between 36 and 40 a woman is like Greece.
Gently aging but still a warm and desirable
place to visit.
Between 41 and 50 a woman is like Great
Britain, with a glorious and all conquering past.
Between 51 and 60 a woman is like Israel, has been
through war, doesn't make the same mistakes
twice, takes care of business.
Between 61 and 70 a woman is like Canada,
self-preserving but open to meeting new people.
After 70, she becomes Tibet. Wildly beautiful,
with a mysterious past and the wisdom of the
ages. An adventurous spirit and a thirst for
spiritual knowledge.
The Geography of a Man
Between 1 and 80 a man is like North Korea
and Zimbabwe, ruled by a pair of nuts.

ReplyDeleteHee hee hee ... can't stop laughing ... love this!!! Have a wonderful birthday, Manzanita!!!! You are a treasure and an inspiration to all of us!
ReplyDeleteTeresa
DeleteThank you for dropping by and the good wishes. Are you still deep in snow? We are yet in Montana and I see these pictures of all the flowers and greenery of other states, I wonder why I'm living in such a frigid climate.
Nice to hear from you, my beautiful friend.
Happy birthday Manzi!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED what Marilyn sent you. I was drinking my coffee. So glad that I didn't have a mouthful when I got to the end. Otherwise, I would have coffee all over my keyboard and desk. Hahahaha.
I do think of you in terms of the description of the over 70 woman. You are mysterious and constantly surprise me with the things you know, have done, and still do! I have no doubt that you are Wildly Beautiful!
Robin
DeleteThanks for the birthday wishes and the nice words. I had the same reaction when I first read it. Ha
Oh yes..... I am wildly mysterious and beautiful .... yesss yesss yess yesss... I sound like the restaurant scene out of "When Harry Met Sally." haha
Karen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good wishes. By all means, steal away. It's just one of those things that is going around the internet but it is pretty funny. Just what I needed on my birthday.
You share your birthday with my daughter who is 15 today. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday to you!!! I hope you have an awesome day!
Rosey
DeleteOh Happy March. Another IIdes of March baby. I wish your daughter a very happy B/Day and I know she's a very special person.
Happy Birthday Manzanita - congratulations on 4 score years and four .. good for you ...
ReplyDeleteThe poem is just so much fun to read .. especially the end - brilliant you've posted for us ... I think I'll bring Keith along with me ... if 84 is the new 30 .. I can claim just to being still in my 20s!
Cheers and have a very happy weekend with family and friends .. Hilary
Hilary
DeleteThanks for the good birthday wish. That Keith is OK.... he knows how to flatter the ladies.... for sure. At that rate you'll be getting out your roller skates and zipping around. But I remember those cool pics of you wearing the fab scarf. . I think he's right. :)
Happy birthday! bet you'll make it to be over 100. Triple digits. Ummm what happens after 80, do they fall off? lol
ReplyDeletePat
DeleteThanks for the Birthday cheer. 100 would be OK if we had the piss and vinegar of 20 to 30.
I haven't a clue if they fall off. Hahaha Maybe you'll just have to wait and see..... as Polosie said about the health care, just pass it and then we'll read it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANZANITA!
ReplyDeleteAs a birthday present I will tell you something...
A few days ago my mother told me that she loved to read the comments you leave on my blog. She says you are a lovely person!
And I enjoyed the poem!
ReplyDeleteJulia
DeleteIt made me laugh I know. Thanks
Manzanita. I checked the painting you mentioned on my blog and it reminded me that Frida went to a protest against her medical advice because of that event in Guatemala. It happened the year she died.
DeleteI hope you had a lovely birthday, my friend!
Happy Birthday! What a wonderful age to be celebrating! I loved reading the geography of a woman and a man :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful day!
betty
Betty
DeleteThank you for the birthday greeting. I guess the years continue to come, even if we would rather they would not. So.... we might as well enjoy them.
HAPPPY BIRTHDAY have a good one.
ReplyDeleteI did like that poem very funny and a bit of truth in there.
Merle........
Merle
DeleteThanks for the happy Birthday wish. There is a bit of truth but too bad the truth is always so filled with humor. but good humor.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANZANITA. You are definitely Tibet.
ReplyDeleteThat was delightful and priceless. Gotta love the last line.
Patti
DeleteThanks. Old age just happens. We have no choice but to accept it. The battle of the sexes again. Ha
Manzie: Happy Birthday, my friend. You are still my hero! The geography of women is hilarious. Unfortunately, in the USA, we don't have to worry about the geography of men. (Sorry, Manzie. I couldn't resist).
ReplyDeleteJJ
DeleteThank you. I enjoy birthdays now more than when I was younger. I guess we appreciate and accept them more latter on in life. You gotta love American men, I always say.
Happy 84th Birthday Manzi!!
ReplyDeleteLove those geographies. I had a good laugh at the geography of men.
River
DeleteThanks and I had a good belly laugh when I first read it too.
take care.
Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteHoly Ghost
DeleteAnd a big thank you for dropping by.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANZI!! I loved this post so much I'm going to steal it in its entirety--I'll give you credit.
ReplyDeleteFishducky
DeleteThank you, Fran. You don't have to give me credit. I didn't write it..... but I wish I were that clever.
Happy 84th Birthday, Manzanita! Big Hug :)
ReplyDeleteAnd long may you have the spirit and a thirst for knowledge :)
Oh, I just loved this: Between 1 and 80 a man is like North Korea
and Zimbabwe, ruled by a pair of nuts. So true!
Wendy
DeleteThank you for the birthday wish and the hug. I'm glad you got a kick out of post.
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy nuts don't rule me much anymore.
In fact, I'm not sure what they're supposed to do anymore.
As I've gotten older, I sometimes find myself standing in front of a urinal with my junk in my mind, forgetting what it is I was supposed to be doing.
Haha Al
DeleteFunny.....When you're an old woman and get to the toilet, we can't forget why we're there....You know the old saying, ...... she who hesitates pees on the floor. ha
Happy birthday! The part about the nuts made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteJohn
ReplyDeleteThank you for the birthday greeting. I'm happy to make you laught.
Happy happy birthday to you! Wow Manzi, you are almost as wonderfully aged to perfection as my friends in our dance club who turned 90 in February. It is my goal to still be dancing at 100! No doubt you will be!
ReplyDeleteI think one of the things I love about the people I hang out with who are past typical retirement ages is that the don't have so many inhibitions. They do and say as they please and it's always just the right thing.
Jasmine
DeleteThank you. Aged to perfection, huh? Kinda like wine,. You ARE in a senior dance club. That is the wonderful thing about dancing..... You can dance until that last breath. You will be dancing until you are 100 plus..... I'm sure of that.
My dear Manzi, Happy Happy Birthday! You know, I always feel you as my coeval having all the virtues described in this interesting poem! May you get healthier and happier with lots and lots of years ahead!
ReplyDeleteThis special dance is specially for you! ;))

Hugs to you and much Love! ♥
zara
DeleteThank you for the birthday wished.
Oh my god, is that a cute video, or what..... I can't believe what I was looking at. Did you know the chihuahua is my favorite breed of dog?
Dear human, Manzanita,
ReplyDeleteOops and belated birthday wishes, dear lady. I would like to add the despicable David Cameron to that list for the dudes.
Oh behalf of my alleged human, Gary and I, we wish you continued pawsitivity within the world of blogs.
I've been told that 90 is the new 80.
Hugs and kisses,
Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! (( )) xx
Dear Penny and your human, Gary
DeleteThank you for the kind words.
A blogging we will go. Hi ho
Hope all is well at your end of the world.
Love to you little Pawser
Congratulations on number 84. Since you are past the age of 80, you are no longer young. You are "venerable"!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Bear hugs.
Bear
DeleteIf you say so..... that I will be. OMG.... how did I get that old???
Take care and hope all is well.
I'd hate to lose my nuts at 81. Hopefully they just stop ruling my life :)
ReplyDeleteElectrc Addict
DeleteStop ruling your life? But won't that be a relief. You can take up other sports.
Thanks for dropping by.
Dear Manzanita, happy belated birthday! You'r 84 and I'll be 78 on April 1. So here we are, both Tibetans. I'm not at all sure about my having wisdom, but I do absolutely know that you do. And also, both of us are on spiritual quests. Take care and let's celebrate again like this next year. Peace.
ReplyDeleteDee
ReplyDeleteWell, how about that.... Our birthdays are close together. Tibetan sounds good to me. In fact, I like all the stages a woman goes through, only I wouldn't mind being a little further down on the list. Very soon you'll be celebrating.
Hah! I just saw that you live in Bozeman. We lived there for hubs work. Still have friends and great memories from our time there :)
ReplyDeleteJennifer
DeleteThank you for visiting. I did live in Bozeman until last summer when I moved back to Helena. I glad to know you enjoyed your time there.
Holy Shoot!! I missed your Birthday. I have been holed up in this god forsaken cold arsed state of Pennsylvania and missed it. Dang. Well a very belated Happy Birthday to you. LOVE yOu.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Hope it was a great one for you.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I'm sorry I missed your birthday. I hope it was a happy one.
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday! And wishing you many more.
ReplyDeleteOh, good gravy that was hilarious! I needed that laugh today!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a fabulous day!
Thanks for stopping by today. I am meeting all kinds of new bloggers thanks to Pat. I have your website bookmarked and can't wait to see more :)
Apologies for not visiting for a while Manzanita - real life got (and still gets) in the way of blogging (much) at the mo.
ReplyDeleteMore importantly - a belated Very Happy Birthday.
Love the truth of The Geography of Man!
Kind regards
Anna :o]
