Are Your Ducks in a Row?

It's good to see that someone has their ducks in a row. I've been trying to
do just that, all summer. But now the asters are beginning to bloom and
that means summer's gone, kaput, finished, the end. Am I sad or a little
blue (like the Grumpster?) naw.......I'm ready to learn something new.

I did learn a few tid-bits this summer that I'm tossing into my massive
tid-bit bag. I learned not to get too attached to neighbors..... they move.
Neighbors on all sides and neighbors next to the neighbors who move,
move. It's like dominos falling and I just moved back here.  Is it me? No,
I think they are all getting new agendas. I saw the new houses of 2 neighbors
and they are leaving their beautiful trees and moving into a treeless hot
lot. Oh well, perhaps the new houses have a sun porch BUT they
wouldn't need a sunporch with shade trees. Not my concern.

I'm always disappointed when liars pants don't explode in flames. That
would be the simple way to identify liars or the long nose trick. Both
would work equally well and we could cross the street, if we happened
to see one approaching but we woudn't want to get run over by an
oncoming fire truck trying to quench the pants.

It wasn't a plan to stay away from blogging all summer but it slowly evolved
as my delight in gardening gained momentum. I realize many of my bloggie
friends thought I had bit the dust... emote (I think that's the Arabic word).
Still kick'n, still going to post. I hope everyone had a delightful summer,
got lots of sunburn and did just whatever the heck pleases you.

Looking forward to visiting with you all, once again. Yay, it's good to
be back

  1. Good to see you Manzi! I would have worried had I not run into an occasional comment of yours.

Love that video of the ducks getting into a row. That was amazing.

My mom really enjoys watching Judge Judy. I started watching with her. Now I sometimes watch without her. I am constantly surprised by the things that people sue one another over and the LIES they tell to a) get money or b) get out of paying what they obviously owe. She ultimately asks enough questions to get to the bottom of it - and doesn't put up with crap - but it would be ever so much easier if their noses grew each time they lied. Or their pants caught fire. Now, that would make for exciting TV!

    1. lol the thing about that show is no one is ever out any money. Each person that appears gets $5000. So whoever wins their money gets deducted from the other person's pay. So it is a win win even if you lose, one big crock.

That would make an amusing TV show with everyone standing in front of Judge Judy with flames shooting from their pants and noses longer than a fence post. I know some people who are dumber than a fence post, in fact that used to be one of those old favorite sayings in our family.... Dumber than a fence post.
I kinda watch Judge Judy once in a while. Yeah, they sure do try to be con artists but usually fail miserably.
I wonder why I'm always running into ducks. I don't even particularly like them.... esp. when they are in large gatherings. yuck, the poop.

    3. Pat, I didn't know that show was a crock. I guess I always thought it was a real court but then nothing seems to ever be real on TV so why should that court show.

    4. I didn't know that everyone gets $5,000 for just APPEARING. That explains some of those cases. I have said to mom several times, "I don't think these people are even mad at each other. I think that they hatched this whole thing just to get on TV." Now I think it was for TV and $5,000 a person. That is just shameful.

How about that news. I always think the reality shows are certainly not reality either. . It's all a script but just perhaps the actors can say it in their own words. I read that in the old timey movies .... say of Mae West and W.C. Fields.... that was the way they made the movies.

  2. I'd like to see people's pants catch on fire, then some would have a literal weenie roast haha oh that would hurt. those ducks sure are in a row, neighbors to move to and fro

    1. Pat.... LOL I'm trying not to let my imagination see a literal picture of that one. I think everyone in government would be still lying but with charred weinies. See, I feel sad when neighbors move and you are thinking of it and if I were your neighbor, I'd be sad.

  3. I was gone for a couple months to work on my book. I came back in June.
The book's not done, but I don't have a job anymore.
So, time management isn't as big a problem as it used to be.

Well, not having a job is a heck of a thing, or is it? Prob ain't too good if it's forced retirement as I think we'd like to choose the "when" on retirements. It might be good to take a break from your book and come back with renewed vigor. Welcome back to you too.

  4. I was wondering about you yesterday, what you were up to ... it's nice to see this post. My brother left a house with a view of Pike's Peak up in the Black Forest area above Colorado Springs for a house on a golf course with no view and no ambiance. House is nice, but so what ... I don't understand this drift toward the mundane.

    1. Dear Teresa,
You and me both. The main reason I sold my house in Bozeman was .... I was the first one in the subdivision and planted a lot of fast growing trees. No body else planted trees and it was barren and windy and yucky. My back yard was nice because I planted a lot of flowers, trees and had rocks, etc.... but when I went out the front it made me feel lonely.... like I was on a South Dakota prairie all by myself. I wonder is your brother is happy? If he's in Colorado, he can smoke and forget the view..... LOL

It's good to hear from you and to know that you are having fun.
My summer has been happily busy and I've enjoyed it very much,.

I did a lot of that this summer. OH excuse me..... you said the "inspiring award" I thought you said "perspiring. Just a little light humor..... Thank you. I'll be by.

  6. Your occasional comments kept me from trying to raise the ransom or gathering a search party. You have been missed as a poster however and hope you get back in rhythm.
I saw that video on TV and loved it. That man's talent in getting his ducks in a row. was priceless.

I didn't know if that video had been seen by everyone but my son just sent it to me. It made me laugh because that is almost the way my chickens come running to me when I go out. LOL
Thanks for the thoughtful wrods ..... Geez, I wonder how much the ransom would be...Ha

  10. You hope people got lots of sunburn? Tsk Tsk!
I agree about the sun porches, I'd prefer shady trees myself.
Glad you had such a great summer.

Only a humorous way of saying I hope they got to spend a lot of time outside this summer. Trees make such a difference in a yard AND they take such a long time to grow that I would much prefer a yard that already has mature trees.

  12. Happy Happy you are back, Manzi, dear! Is it your rancho on the banner? I remember when we visited Sweden for a couple of days there were houses like this one, painted in red-brown. :) You have a great view around, vast spaces and mountains! Unfortunatelly, I can't see your video... :((

No, I don't have a barn now because I live in town but yes, this barn and countryside is typical of all that one sees here. I love barns..... I think they are beautiful. I wish I still had my country barn but now my house is just on an oversize city lot. But for what I want it's certainly all I can take care of. Ha You are lucky to travel so much and are able to soa up other cultures. The video was very short.... showed a Russian farmer calling his ducks and hundreds of white ducks all ran together into the barn. Cute and funny. I don't now why it was taken off as it was on just a day ago.

Thanks for the good words. A new neighbor is like playing the lottery...... you wait and wonder what you'll get. Ha All of my neighbors who are moving have been super-duper quiet and friendly. Roll the dice.

I'm sorry about the video. Wonder why they decided to remove it just now. It was a farmer calling his ducks and hundreds of them came running in unison into the barn. So cute. I hope you too enjoyed your garden and yard this summer.

  15. I have been away for a while myself. It has been an unusual summer, and I really can identify with getting close to neighbors. Our friends are spread out from Maine to California and it gets more difficult to keep in touch every year. Glad to hear you are having fun.

I remember you had some travel plans for this summer. Hope it all went well for you. I didn't go anywhere but I'm done with travel. I find it's too stressful for me, as I get older. Yes, there are some neighbors one wishes would never move.

  16. Welcome back! You were missed in the blogosphere, but I'm glad you had a wonderful summer in the great outdoors. Life's too short to spend all of it behind a computer, especially when the sun is shining and the gardens need to be tended.

It would definitely be helpful if noses would grow and britches would burst into flames whenever someone tells a lie. I'm much too gullible for my own good, and tend to believe whatever anyone says way beyond the time most people figure out they're completely full of it.

The summer is just right here..... 3 months of intensive gardening is enough for me. Believe it or not..... as much as I enjoy the summers, I'm ready for a season change. Ha
Yes, I do want noses to grow and pants to catch on fire for liars. You don't appear to be gullible but I guess I am too. I never can see a good reason for telling a big fib.

  17. Hi ya Manzanita! I was thinking about you the other day, wondering how it was going in your garden. It's been a great summer. Haven't done much other than riding my bicycle.

I dislike liars, too. I like to think I'm less gullible, but I don't know. It would help if their pants lit up. :-)

Riding that pink bike all over town, huh. I bet your legs are strong and your body healthy. Wish I could ride a bike, but I can't see much from one eye and I'm never sure about the traffic ..... so I had to quit. I guess I can still ride on a quiet country land sans traffic. What a world it would be with everyone wearing brilliant pants. Washington would be brighter than Las Vegas. Ha Heck it would be one huge conflagration.

  18. I don't think I have one duck in a row. But, I am working on it. LOL... time seems to get away from me. Love, love, love. Can't wait to see you.
It isn't that long until we will be leaving here. We are going to do a lot of sight seeing along the way so it might take a week to get to your town.

  19. I'm having trouble making videos with the new mac. Why do they have to keep improving something if it ain't broke?

If you come by way of the Dakotas..... what's to see? If you've seen one stretch of flat land, you've seen em all. ha No really, I love the prairies, after all that is where I was born and grew up. I guess the universe just thought I'd fit in there....Haha

I am just so terribly happy for you and your making the right decision to move. Something always tells us when it's time for a move. My gut told me when it was time to leave Bozeman and return to Helena. Happy times ahead for you

  22. Glad you're still up and about, learning and doing. Some of us had wondered about what had become of you, so we are relieved to hear that being busy was the reason for your absence.

Neighbours moving. That can be a bit of a change all right. Then you wonder. Will someone friendly move in next door?

As for liars pants bursting into fire, that would keep several fire engines and crews busy all day and night. (Imagine New York in that condition.) Yeah, that would be a challenge.

Blessings and Bear hugs, m'lady Manzi.

  23. Dear Manzanita, it's so good to have you back. Your dry wit always delights me . . . and often makes me think . . . and your level-headedness, with your feet on the ground, is just what I need when my thoughts aren't anchored. So thanks for returning. I'm glad you enjoyed your summer and got lots done. And yes, neighbors move. But I think, after moving from Minnesota five years ago, I'm settled in this house, that has three trees growing every taller, and here's where I'll stay. Reading your blog! Peace.

  24. You may not be aware of this but... I used to be a duck. THIS ONE. I know, it's shocking, but as true as my ex-neighbor's gold. Don't be blue like me. That's unhealthy for someone as upbeat as yourself. Hey... you said tid-bit. No one's biting the dust!
