What a Day

What a day this has been
What a rare mood I'm in
Why it's almost like being in love

I think the above words are from the song, "It's
almost like being in love" but from what musical?
It feels like Guys and Dolls? I'm too lazy to look
it up but I'm sure someone will know and tell us.
It feels like when they went to Cuba on that bet
and she, (Jean Simmons in the movie) fell in love
with Marlon Brando.
God, he was really a hunk when young but look
what old age did to him. Twas a pity.

This is the day after the love day and where is the fat
little guy in the diaper?  Did he use up all his arrows?
What a bothersome little twit he is. Are all the
maidens puffed up and zitted out from stuffing their
faces with the chocolates from heart shapped boxes.

I was at the health food store yesterday and the check-
out gal asked me about my evening plans. I told
her that my lover was taking me to dinner and
he had previously asked me what I wanted.....to
which I replied, "A diamond tennis bracelet. He
is so generous." She just stared at me with her mouth
open, as though she wanted to say something but
couldn't form the words. Then I said, "Kidding," and
we had a big laugh.

Darkness has fallen. I have to go out to the
green house and check the temp. I transfered the
new little plants from upstains to the green house
but I put a heat lamp on them for the night.

Hope your week is filled with new and exciting
ideas. uuummm...... I think I really would like
that tennis bracelet.

Dream on, kiddo

    1. I just mailed you a big box of weather LOL.
I do expect more snow before we can make this official but it's been about a month of spring. High temps in the green house.
You'll have your nice weather soon, in Vegas.

Not really for me.... I never eat out. My husband loved to eat out. (who wouldn't with my cooking) I'd move a dinner salad around on the plate and eat either before or after we got home.

  7. Well, darn it all, now I have to google tennis bracelet. I meant to buy myself a box of choccies but when I saw the prices I didn't bother.
I hope your new little plants do well. I've been collecting the seed cases from the dwarf marigolds as they dry out, I'll get them started over autumn and winter then plant them out in the spring.
Been a long while since I saw Brigadoon.

I think it's perfectly fine to buy our own presents. That way we get exactly what we want. I've wanted a diamond tennis bracelet when I was younger but not anymore as jewelry doesn't go well with wrinkles. I don't wear any jewelry now.

Good idea to collect the flower seeds. I do that with some plants.

Thanks for mentioning the song was from Brigadoon. Funny but I remembered it the second I hit publish. I like almost all the musicals but haven't seen any for a long time. Are you familiar with the music from Fantastics? I was just singing the Plant a Radish song the other day. I don't even remember if that is the name of it, but I remembered the lyrics. LOL

  9. You're my kind of gal. I heard on the news a lot of women buy flowers for themselves for Valentine's Day so I guess if you want a Tennis bracelet you could buy it for yourself. I wouldn't ever go anywhere to wear one and I don't think the cows would like me wearing one.

I think that makes sense to buy our own gifts. I'd never buy myself flowers because I have so many out in the gardens in the summer and I'd rather see them out where they belong and they last longer. It seems like you pick the flowers one day and the next day you're sweeping up flowers already. Nor would I have room for them. My house is small and cluttered. A designer, I'm not.

Who knows, your cows might actuallyi love the sparkle of diamonds. and then they would all want something sparkly. I was wondering if the chickens would like music in the chicken coop. It would be nice for them when they have to stay inside on the bitter cold days.

  10. You might never know about the bracelet, maybe next year? I didn't have any valentines day plans, but I spent the night with a chocolate bar none the less. I think cupid might just have given up on me. Have a great week.

  14. Jean Simmons? For a second (well, five) I thought you said Gene Simmons.... That WAS a disturbing thought, especially with the tongue and all. Let's hope he is not in a diaper. What's wrong with a diamond tennis bracelet? I bet it would look on you too. I know it would on me. Then all I would need to do is ask someone to teach me how to play tennis without dropping on the floor due to exhaustion....

This is playing stump the band or the comment or something of that nature. Would my vintage know of Gene Simmons, a rock star with Kiss? Absolutely not, probably for the same reason you wouldn't have known who Jean Simmons was. LOL Of course, I had to google it. Thanks some more new knowledge to add to my already "popping at the seams" memory bank. Matching tennis bracelets for hot-shot tennis players. How's that?

      Delete
    2. Your memory bank is doing just fine. Banks around the world are not, so, you know...

I would've had to google Gene Simmons too if I hadn't seen his tongue one time too many.

    3. Blue ....Hahaha.....Yes google. That is why we are smarter now than we used to be.

I've been thinking of you lately because of my neighorhood. Trouble right here in River City. Not for the same reason of your trouble but I think I could take that, compared to a dangerous mean-spirited idiot. I'll try to get a post out on it. All I want to do is live in peace. Ah, spring, spring and more spring. Can't come fast enough for me. Your saplings, trees? I think you mentioned something about that but I can't recall what your ordered. Please tell me again. Are your winters mild and free of snow?
I appologize for being so absent online. My fingers are always in tooooo many pies.
P.S. I just moved my chair back and it fell square on the cat's tail. Poor little thing. I heard a gigantic meow and she ran out of the room. I suppose she won't speak to me all day. She is old (around 13) and I wonder how she ever made it this long with that long fluffy tail. Haha

    2. Thank you dear Manzi, i am feeling so touched! :)
Well, i mean saplings of strawberries (white 'ananas' strawberry' and a climbing one sort of) and also one baby plant of black tomatoes (they are considered to have the most rich content of antioxydants!). Manzi, do you know some success tips of growing strawberries??
... i was missing you a lot, and so happy you are back!! ;)
Ohh, why you wrote it so funny? - i shamely couldn't help but laughing....... Seriously, poor, poor kitty!! Is she and her tail all right now? Are you Friends again?! Hope so!

    3. Zara
Yes I do recall that you had mentioned strawberries. They have always been easy for me to grow. They seem to like the sun but also like some moisture from a little mulch. I completely covered them for winter and I hope they are OK. This was their first winter. A neighbor had given me 5 little plants of the Alpine group and those are the real small berries but delightfully sweet. Something rather bad happened and I'll try to write a post on it.

Black tomatoes, huh? I don't know if I've ever seen all black but I've grown the yellow.

The poor little Puss had to forgive me ...... hahaha.... that is, when she got hungry. I've been making her food but just decided to start her on the canned commercial food. I'm driving myself cuckoo by making the food for both the cat and dog and it leaves no time for me. I was afraid the Puss would not eat the commercial food because she wouldn't before. But I think her teeth must have been hurting her. The vet pulled 2 teeth and cleaned the others and she is a frisky little kitten again,

I see you are writing much news on Facebook as they tell me so on my phone. I haven't gotten back there yet but one of these days..... perhaps.

Hope you get your saplings soon. Keep me informed.

Good luck. It's hard to resist cravings and sugar has that ability, like a drug.

  20. I just looked up Marlon Brandon when he was young. He really was a hottie. :) I've never had a tennis bracelet. I've just never been big on jewelry (my husband likes this fact ;) ). I do admire it on others though, and if I had one I'd send it on over to ya so someone could get some use out of it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Rosie
Well, you, my dear, would be generous with your jewelry. Ha But truth has it that I no longer wear jewelry either. There was a time when I loved the diamonds and did wear expensive jewels but like you, I've dispersed them to my girls. They should get the use of the jewels while their skin is still supple and smooth. Somehow, jewelry just doesn't go with wrinkles. Haha

Although, I have always admired the tennis bracelets because they are so delicate looking. They must be lightweight too or Chris Evert wouldn't have been able to play tennis while wearing it.

Yeah, Brando was really a hottie when he was young. How that sexy guy could have changed into that fat person, is hard to believe. I guess that's what happens when one gets too much of the good life. LOL

    2. Rosie,

Ain't that the truth. I know I do better with simple food but would not have minded breaking bread with Marlon when he was still hunky. (and alive) LOL
Speaking of bread and simple, I've started some sourdough starter and it is completely delish. WOW. I do believe if I had to choose food for my last meal, it would be sourdough bread and butter.

  22. It's weird but I never liked wearing bracelets. I am such a klutz that I feel like I'd snag it on something and break it. Like you, I'm giving away my things. I'm wearing very simple, inexpensive things these days. Then again, I never a lot of fine jewelry. Sigh...

I saw one in Costco for 5 grand and it sparkled like crazy under the glare of the glass counter. You would like one too, huh? The temp in my little green house really gets up there. Two days ago it went up to 100 deg in there. Soon I'll add my compost to the beds and I'll see how well the new plants like that.

  25. Dear Manzanita, it's so lovely seeing your face on my blog post about snow. It IS good to be back to blogging. I may not be able to manage even once a week...at least that's how it seems this week...but I don't intend to drop out again for months because I enjoy stopping by to visit friends such as you. And you are one of the most delightful friends with your wonderful sense of humor. Hilary Melton-Butcher is another upbeat gal. Montana is warm right now. Wow. My nextdoor neighbor, a widow who moved back to Virginia when her husband passed away, lived with him many years in Montana, and she goes there every summer to get away from the dreadful humid heat here. But we're still VERY cold, much colder than you are there and expecting MORE snow tomorrow. Hope your plants thrive...and you too!
