Ides of March

                The Ides of March

  Today Manzanita is officially 83

  And so is Betty Boop

Who would guess Betty is 83. How does she do it?

When I was young (and so was Betty) people gave me Betty Boop dolls, pictures, books and cards.
I grew very close to her and somehow thought we were carved from the same chunk of stone but as the years went by,  I noticed I began to age but she didn't.  She always had that coy look and tiny waist.

                                            Here's to our birthday

Dear Bloggie Friends
I've heard the words "Happy Birthday" many times but as a little gift I would love it if you told me something special "ABOUT YOU." I want all of you to know how much I look forward to my mornings and reading your blogs.  It makes my whole day.
Adios Bloggie Friends and my love to you,  Manzanita

I've always loved Betty Boop, but she's certainly looking good for her age, isn't she? As are you my friend. Love the photo of the kitty at the top of your page.

My dear, if there is a norm for age, you do not look like the norm for 66. I think of it as being young yet but I know, you are thinking 4 years away from 70. I did too but now I just enjoy each day that I'm breathing as it's like a gift.
I'll see you on your birthday party. :)

That is quite a statement that I believe is true with many people. It is interesting though. I don't like all the hubbub and cooking connected with holidays either. As far as the pretense of liking them, it must be some deep-seated guilt syndrome we were inoculated with when we were young.

I do understand your hating a December birthday because I'm sure what you thought was the truth. I say that because my youngest kid was born Dec 22 and I admit, many years, I just grabbed a present from under the tree. Poor little kid, being the youngest of 4 and always having a birthday over shadowed by a huge holiday....so I know what you felt. I did always have a big birthday party for each child with all their friends, though.Hhummm I wonder if I ruined Easter for him too? :)

To this day I still consider Bob Hope to be the funniest man to ever do movies with Groucho Marx coming in at a close second. I also regret never having the chance to meet Mr. Hope while he was alive.

Thanks for sharing your favorite comics. I agree that Bob Hope was a funny man. Didn't he have a golf classic too? I think my husband used to play in that. He was a patriot during WW2 in that he was in the front line of battle entertaining the troops.
Groucho was hilarious too. Those eyebrows, deadpan face, and cigars .... oh oh and then he had that show where the duck came down. Just his walk would bring down the house. I wish you had been able to see B. Hope too.
You have a great week end and I too, will be the "party animal." LOL

You wanna' know something about me? I'm amazed that BBC radio interviewed me in regards to my blog and a mental health cause I was involved with. How about that, eh.

You are an integral part of what I believe the blogging community should be all about. A sharing, caring community celebrating the great diversity.

I know you aced that interview and enlightened the minds of many people. I would love to have heard it or be able to hear it. Is there any chance of that? You may ask, how do I know? I know because you have that capability of enlightening people and also making them comfortably at ease. That is a gift.

Yes and I think our blogging community is just as you explain. A blogging convention might be in order and we could all wear little name sticker tags that say,"Hello, my name is________.

Thanks for trying to give me solace re. Betty but I still yearn for her waistline. :) Funny you should mention the walking sticks. I did my usual walk with Cody, had lunch with daughter and she hadn't done her walk yet so we did another in the mountains, this time. Almost all the mud is gone on the trail and it was a delightful walk. (Met a lot of other people with their walking poles.LOL

I guess I got a little tired of this, so I came up with a response: "I use my eyes to flirt with," is what I said. According to my parents I got that from Betty Boop, and got all kinds of interesting reactions from people. Happy belated Birthday to you, dear Manzanita. You are forever young.
