Today is the day

 This is the
     day
 We keep worms away

Today we all got a dose of worm medicine.
1. The box is for Cody
2.  The little white box (picture of dog but for small dogs or cats) is for Cat
3. The bottle is for me

Here is a subject of denial by most humans. Oh, perhaps they admit to their pet having parasites but do they have worms????  No... never.  HaHa  Even if you've never been near a cat or dog in your life, you need to be dewormed. Do you ever touch a door knob in a public place? Do you ever push a cart around in a store? Do you ever go barefoot in the grass? Do you ever kiss or have sex?

Are you ever sick, have a cold, or flu? Trust me bloggie friends, this is not being said in any braggadocio manner but I have not had a cold/flu in so many years, I can't remember..... 25--40 years. Honest.  The number doesn't matter but if you don't deworm yourself, think of the toxins floating around within your body. Die-off and everything poops. Yuck. The only illness I've had was my tailbone was out of whack but quickly adjusted back in place by my health provider.

We deworm at least every 6 months, sometimes more often.  I've never been to an allopathic doctor in my life. You visit them when you want drugs and I don't. My snacks are foods that parasites don't like, for instance, pumpkin seeds and figs. Also cook with a lot of garlic.

Bottom line, if you haven't been working on getting rid of parasites, you got em.

  1. Something I just learned a while back
And now de-worming at my shack
    Still screwed up though
    But you never know
The cats I haven't done though
As one has issues up the ying yang at my show
    God knows how she'll react
The other is just one big issue at my rhyming mat haha
Although I never try and touch the doorknob or cart
Nasty germs I avoid at places like wal-mart

    1. Pat,
I'm happy for you at your mat
Just tell those worms to take a scat
We don't want em we don't like
Tell them all to take a hike
And the cats will feel much better
If you worm them to the letter
Break a capsule and you sprinkle
On wet food without a wrinkle
They'll be happy coat will shine
They will thank you every time.

    2. I don't have animals... but I do have worms. When I was a kid the Drs had my Mom give us castor oil. I still use it, but can't stand the taste.

    3. Oh I wanted to say... most people that think they just have acid reflux.... COULD BE WORMS.... ask me,,,,, I know all about being diagnosed with acid reflux and it turned out WORMS!!!

    4. Any good one for the cats?
or just visit the vet mats?
I can pin them down and shove it
They no longer get wet food at my bin
As one won't eat it no matter the can in comes in
And the others allergies act up no matter the type
      Surely don't want that gripe
On the humaworm stuff for me
Still no worms or anything different I see

  2. Who knew? (Apparently... YOU!)

Wow, can't say that I've ever been de-wormed, but now I'm gonna have to give it some thought. Thanks. (I think... YUK!)

I know I'm out of touch but I've always lived the way I was brought up. But it works.

  3. That used to be a standard practice a hundred years ago. Spring tonic and all.

Where in the world do you find people wormer? Does it target specific worms or all worms?

    1. Gail,
I've never changed. Always have lived the old fashion way. Never ate in restaurants. My husband loved to but I would eat before (at home) and then push a salad around on my plate to be polite, because we always went out with his relatives and they thought I was weird enough. Ha

You can find human wormer at any health food store or on line BUT make sure it has the 3 main ingredients.... wormwood, cloves and green black walnut. Sometimes they let the black walnut ripen.... no good. Make sure it's green. Pretty much targets all of them but then de-worm a 2nd time in 2 or 3 weeks to catch the new batch of eggs.

I used to get wormed regular as a kid. They used castor oil in my neck of the woods

Yes, if you have a pet, those yucky things are necessary. My problem has always been how to de-worm the feral cats that I feed at the ranch.

  5. Having had pets all my life, I too am aware of diligence against worms. For myself I too eat pumpkin seeds and season heavily with garlic. Loves me garlic, though not sure my friends do. Thank goodness for those Altoids "curiously strong" peppermints.

Some how, I thought you'd know the importance of de-worming. I too, have always tried to keep my critters free of worms but it's constant because they will eat anything. Especially Cody. But ha ha, that also means she takes the pills easily. She doesn't even care if something tastes bad, like the pills. "Oh food," gulp in one mouthful. Dogs never chew, do they?
You are such a good doggie mother.

  6. Another subject I need to learn more about for Molly the Cat as well as for us human crew members. While serving in the Army, the Daddy got so sick, he was admitted into the hospital. He said the doctors pulled a very loooooong tapeworm from inside him.

When you worm one person or critter in a family it's good to worm everyone. I've seen really long tape worms (like 27 feet) on YT. I heard some pretty gruesome stories about them too. I bet your Dad was happy to be rid of that burden.

  8. I deworm every 3 months. As soon as I know have lowered the worm population, I will go to every 6 months.

Manzi, Is the Now product you are using for yourself working?. The Humaworm worked great for awhile but I think my body is to used to it now and I need to find something else with different herbs.

Neem is suppose to work but only the fresh leaves.... where the heck do I find fresh neem leaves anyway.

I guess that is why Cody was sick... worms!! Dang those buggers are everywhere.

    1. Terry,
No not worms with Cody. Do you remember when she punctured her throat with a bush branch when she was diving for a frizbee? That was acting up again. I'm getting some herbs from Mary Jo for it. She has dealt with critters before.

I read in one of the old books that I have that the black walnut has to picked green.(duh, too many colors) No good if it is picked after maturity. I found this bottle from NOW that says "fresh green black walnut." The comments on Amazon were fabulous. That is what I am using but I never seem to see any worms anyway. Neither does Cody. That is strange for a dog, don't you think? I often put a little diatomaceous earth on the critters food and that prob keeps the worms away.

      Delete
    2. Is that diatomaceous earth something I should try too?
Once a day at my zoo
Heard people drink it every day
To keep the worms and aches away

  10. Goodness me, I've never heard of humans worming themselves before, but, you're right, we touch so many things containing germs, but I just thought it would be okay to wipe our hands with bacterial fluid. I do remember having Caster Oil when I was a little girl though! You do seem very wise about health issues, and you are certainly such a good example, having never been to see a Doctor!

  14. Hey Manzanita,

You bring up some most informative points and I know you're right. You are living testimony to it. I got a bit confused when they got to the um bottom of things with me at the hospital. It turned out to not have anything to do with worms. Excellent advice and may you enjoy your Sunday, my dear friend.

As I sit by the window writing this, I notice snow flakes swirling around in the wind, looking for a place to land. It looks like it is snowing up high in the mountains and I do hope so. We desperately need moisture.
I hope you are well and enjoying your weekend with the adorable star, Penny, champion author.
      Take care.

  15. We used to deworm on a regular basis, twice a year, when the kids were little and in the first few grades at school because threadworms were a problem. When they got older and washed their hands more no one get them. I still wash my hands a lot but haven't thought of worms in years. I use garlic in most of my cooking and take vitamins too, so I think I'm okay.

Garlic is good for so many health issues and it flavors so many dishes. It seems to be used widely in European countries.

  19. I've carried the LA habit of cooking with a lot of garlic with me. Love how it flavors food. I can't remember the last time I thought about worms, but think I'm okay. And, I scrolled down to your previous post. We also watch DWTS, more, like you, for the scores than the actual dancing. Once in a while there's a surprise performance, though.

    1. Ros,
As I said to someone else, I'm in such a minority so don't listen to me. If you worm the cats you are most likely fine. My cat doesn't go out so she is usually fine.... it's the dog who eats ANYTHING when she's out. I don't think allopathic medicine ever recommends cleansing the inner body. They couldn't charge much for that.

    1. Keith,
You are most likely kidding but if you aren't and you ask an allopathic doctor, they will tell you I am a crazy old woman. I grew up with grandparents in a big old house with aunts and uncles and we all cleansed with herbs. No one was ever sick. They lived until close to 100 and they just knew when it was "their time." Today with the GMO's and chemicals we breath, it's difficult to survive. I'll never live as long as my ancestors, even though I live with the "OLD TIMEY" ways.

  22. Dear Manzanita, the idea that humans need to be dewormed is absolutely a new one for me. I do remember, however, my mom examining me for worms when I was about 8. I think she thought I might have a tapeworm. Is that the type of worm you are writing here????? You always tell me such interesting things! Peace.

    1. Dee,
Your mother was probably looking for pin worms or hook worms. Kids get those from playing in the sand or dirt, or from their pets. Mothers examine kids at night with a flashlight because the worms come out at night and lay their eggs.
A tape worm can get very long (some up to 27 feet)and are very smart about hiding in the body.
But most adults just have the very small parasites that can't be seen. But I also cleanse each of my organs separately.
I started out as a nurse and it didn't take me long to realize that allopathic medicine couldn't possibly cure, so all my life I've stayed with the old folk medicine. In China the hospitals have 2 sections, the one that does the herbs and acupuncture, etc,for curing and the other section with allopathic for acute things. Such a good idea.
