Sing Baby Sing

There is an old, old song called "Sing Baby Sing." As a family, we do just that. Good or bad voice, on or off key..... we still sing. This morning I was belting out my wake-up tunes and saw the new back alley neighbor outside. I hope I don't soon see a "house for sale" sign in his yard.

We send songs to each other. This is granddaughter singing for her Aunt Amy.
I'm trying to hide it as I'm sure she doesn't want it posted.  She says I always post everything. She may be right. She may even disown me as a grandmother.

  1. I am sure she won't disown you! That was great.

As I was listening to her, I kept thinking, "She reminds me of someone stylistically. Who is it?" About halfway through the song it came to me. Lucinda Williams.

Do you know who that is?

    2. Oh, I am going to be such a grandfather.
That event isn't on the horizon yet (and it better not be for a while), but I'm planning.

  8. Lovely, Manzie. Even if she protests a little, I'll bet she's secretly pleased that her grandmother is so proud of her.

I come from a singing kind of family, too. Extended family got together to sing... we sang in the car on trips... we sang along with Mitch Miller... my cousins and I sang around the campfire... my girlfriends and I worked out harmonies as we walked to school. I still tend to sing and hum my way through a good part of each day. It's in the nature of the beast, I reckon.

She does protest. I should hurry up and do another post to cover this. Now I feel guilty.

Sounds like your childhood was so much fun. I love singing families. We sing on car trips too. Harmonizing to "You are my sunshine" always a favorite. Singers really never are blue.

Good morning on this Sunday in July, the month that is moving much too fast. Thanks for stopping.

  10. She's a great singer! Not only do I know that, so does the dog — who didn't howl!

Cody will howl and does howl when we sing. I'm surprised she didn't do it on this vid. She loves to howl when Ashly plays the fiddle.

  11. I don't sing unless I'm absolutely 100% certain nobody can hear me. I'll listen to your grand daughter now.

That is how I am in the early morning when I sing just after I get up. But in the summer, people have windows open and that's bad. Ha

  13. She's completely awesome. If I could sing like that I'd belt it from the rooftops and then some. :)

I can't sing a lick but do it all of the time. Once hubby was out in the yard, and me and the kids were singing a song, over and over (it was a kid thing). He said when he looked up the neighbors made it clear they were amused by our impromptu concert. lol I didn't even think about the windows being open. ;)

Oh, I bet that was a beautiful concert. Nothing sweeter than a mother and kids singing and having a good time.

    1. I know but I suppose grandmothers should mind their own business more but grandmothers (me mostly) don't have much of a life outside of their family.

  16. Ah, that was really good. Be proud, besides she really favors you.
As for singing, I am loud and proud in the car alone going down the road. In public, I have been known to lip sync Happy Birthday.

Like the Beib? I think that is how his mother did it. He has turned into a drama queen. I heard on the radio news that he exited a restaurant with his friends by way of the kitchen and peed in a bucket on the way out. Nice guy, huh?

I can't tell her because I'm trying to hide this so she doesn't see that I've gone against her wishes and posted this song. I'm a bad grandmother. But thanks for the great words.

  19. Lovely, Manzanita. You must be proud of her.

  20. I could honestly listen to more of this. She is actually very good. Not just to her grandmother.
I bet your family is fun to hang out with!

  21. Hey Manzanita,

I'm real sorry that I haven't been able to keep up with you in blogland. And at almost four in the morning, I'm only just arriving.

I promise to pretend I didn't watch or listen to the video of your granddaughter. Which means that I also wont mention she is a marvellous talent, obviously just like yourself and to the delight of any animals that happen to pass by. Penny the Jack Russell who is also sworn to secrecy, also enjoyed this!

    I need some cookies.
