What is the Song?

What is the song Dale is singing?
Roy Rogers left his brand new boots out on the porch and in the morning discovered a mountain lion had destroyed them. He was so angry, he grabbed his rifle,  jumped on Trigger,  told Dale he was going to get that mountain lion and headed up the mountain. He returned an hour later with the big cat stretched across the back of his saddle. Dale came running out of the house singing (she was always singing) ....... "Pardon me Roy, is that the cat who chewed your new shoes?"
Tell me if you get it right.  (The picture is a hint ....also say it fast.)

It's time to Plant bulbs
If you want a sea of tulips in the spring, now is the time to plant them, says gardener extraordinaire.
That would be me.  I have some bulbs that I dug up from the Bozeman house before it sold but normally they would stay in the ground year around, once they have been planted.

Here's a tip as to where to buy the healthiest, biggest and most beautiful tulip bulbs.  Costco.  They just came in and are sold out in a very short time.  So go down and get yours.  Another tip on the easiest way to plant tulip bulbs.  In place of planting the bulbs individually, dig one big hole, sprinkle a small amount of fertilizer and place the bulbs close together, pointy side up.  Cover with some newly purchased compost soil and wait for spring. Deer do love tulips so I plant mine in the fenced areas.  Adios bloggie  friends.

  1. I don't know the song.

The Tulip tips are great. :) I think we'll grab some when we're out today. Do we need to fence now or just anytime before they start coming up?

It's an old song....prob before your time. Ha

You must be bothered by deer too. Let's see, I think you live in Michigan??? Cold frozen ground. The tulips will come up early but the ground should be thawed so you'll have time to put up something after the tulips appear. Small critters can raise havoc with bulbs too. Those underground rodent-type little critters can also mess with your beautiful bulbs or squirrels can dig them up if they aren't planted deep enough.

    1. Thanks for the tips!! We have all of the above, hard ground, deer, underground critters who mess w/everything, and overzealous squirrels. Yet, I'm not thwarted. ;)

You'll like Costco. Although those stores have a lot of EMF's and stuff that usually bothers me, the building is so spacious and there is so much air, that it doesn't seem to bother me. They seem to hire the most friendly people too, at least in my part of the world. Haha

  7. Pardon me boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo-Choo?

I didn't watch Roy rogers much as a kid, it wasn't on our TV very often. We had a lot of Lassie instead. And Rin Tin Tin, the Lone Ranger, Hop-a-long Cassidy.
Bulbs in the autumn, got it, noted in my diary. I knew that already, but you've reminded me I need to make the note to buy the bulbs.

I'm blowing you a big kiss across the water. You got it. One of the greatest tunes ever written. I never pay much attention to the words.... just the beat. I would hate to count how many times I've danced to that tune.... and I still do.
I guess now, that word boy and the shoe shine can be thought of as racist but I honestly never connected it all the years of dancing to that song. Just let the music live on.

Actually .... so do I. I must be out of my ever-lov'n mind to plant another couple hundred bulbs but if the deer stay away, they just come up and bloom. I do the big hole method of planting. One year I planted each one individually and the moon had come up when I finished and I started early in the morning. Hahaha

  13. From one of my old posts:

A mondegreen is the mishearing or misinterpretation of a phrase in a way that gives it a new meaning. It most commonly is applied to a line in a poem or a lyric in a song. The first lines below are the mondegreen, the next are the real lyrics.

“Let me drown in your bathtub”
“Let me drown in your laughter”
    Annie’s Song, John Denver

    "Gladly, the cross-eyed bear."
    "Gladly The Cross I'd Bear."
    Hymn

"Dead ants are my friends; they're blowin' in the wind."
"The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind."
Blowin' In The Wind, Bob Dylan

    "Midnight after you're wasted."
    "Midnight at the oasis."
Midnight at the Oasis, Maria Muldaur

"The girl with colitis goes by."
    "The girl with kaleidoscope eyes."
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, The Beatles

"Hope the city voted for you."
    "Hopelessly devoted to you."
    Hopelessly Devoted to You, Grease

Now I can add "Chattanooga Choo Choo"!!

  15. Reminds me...
There was once this famous harpist who traveled the nation, regaling the public with his mastery of the stringed instrument. His last gig was at a place owned by a man called Sam Clam. This establishment was also a well-known dancing mecca.
Well, after his wildly successful appearance, our harpist traveled to Kansas City for another performance. However, as he prepared to go on, he shrieked in dismay. When the manager asked him what was wrong, he wailed in anguish, "I left my harp in Sam Clam's disco."
    Thank you, thank very much.

I got one. A couple was out walking in the country and found this rare little animal. Not a cat or dog, just something they've never seen before. So rare, they called it rarey. Rarey grew and grew and grew.... he got so big that they couldn't keep him any more and decided to take him to the edge of a huge canyon and just kinda tip him over the edge. When they got to the edge of the canyon, Rarely looked down and said, "It's a long way to tip a Rarey."

Oh my goodness.... lucky you, seeing Glemn Miller live. Oh how I loved his music and still do. Of course I love all the old swing bands. I guess we always gravitate to the music we grew up with. Your grandmother must have grown up with swing bands too and loved them.
A friend of my daughters has her mother living with her. My daughter and the friend were talking on the phone and the friend said at that moment, the mother was in the other room singing "Halleluliah I'm a bum."(The mother is 94) That was a song from her youth. Haha

Congrats on getting the song. I was surprised at the number of people who did get it.

She won dance contests all of the time, and danced around the house long after she quit going out. :)

I do hope I don't forget to plant the tulips. Sometimes, the ground freezes before I get them planted. I hope not. I just have some tulips and daffodils. Then I have to remember to dig up the irises. Plant one and dig another one up. No wonder we love gardening, huh?
You are landless??? We'll just have to try to find you a small piece of land so you can plant your beloved flowers and vegetables. Love to you

    2. Yes, Manzi, the only place where I can 'garden' these days is a terrace in our city apartment. Not much space to let myself go, but I arranged a really cozy nook there: a jute rug, lots of cushions, fav books, blooming pelargoniums and some of our tropical plants. It's sad the weather has gotten cold lately, so a relaxe zone has been shifted indoors.
But we're working on having our own house with a garden in the nearest future possible... a huge garden, I dream! :)

How big will rosemary get there? You said bush. Mine is really small and will most likely die come winter. Reminds me, I have to get a couple bales of straw to cover the roses and some of the herbs. Sometimes it saves them and in a real harsh winter, it won't. Is it too warm (where you live) to put in tulips to come up in spring? I just think of all California as being warm winters. But I know you have mountains and snow in parts.
I think you are having a lot of enjoyment tending the mama's garden lately.

I so enjoyed as a youngster taking the bus from out in the countryside where we lived and going up to the Independence Square. Across the street was the movie theater that showed cowboy movies ever Saturday as a matinee. So I saw nearly all the Gene Autry and the Roy Roger/Dale Evans films. Good times! Peace.
