The Hour of Long Shadows

I  am not a person of spikey, peaky, up or down emotions. In other words,
I don't think I'm moody, at least I've never been accused of it.  Within
life's normal circumstances, I usually feel content and happy BUT there
is one exception that no one has ever noticed nor have I ever talked about
it and here I am, devulging it to all bloggieland. (We tend
to get bold when we are talking to a screen.)

This is what I have noticed.  In the summer hour,
before the sun is setting, when it casts long shadows, an extreme sadness
rushes into the pit of my sttomach, like a home sick feeling for someone
or some place. Weather conditions always have to be the same; no wind,
warm, the feeling of stillness in the world and I'm looking at long shadows.

All of the conditions have to be there, for this sad feeling to occur, so it
isn't something that happens with regularity BUT it has been with me
my whole life.

Ken is a trusted psychic I've known for a long time and I've used his
ability mostly as a medical intuitive. He has never been wrong and his
findings can always be proven correct with western medical testing as
x-rays, etc.  During one session with him, I mentioned this "long shadow"
occurance. Ken said, "Just a minute," as he went into his little trance or
the thing that he does.

This is what he said.  In a past life, when the weather
conditions were exactly as I mentioned, I watched my four sons be
 executed.

Yes, I do know I have been reincarnated........way too many times
to ever count and I also know many people think it's hogwash.
Whatever. It is just my little true story.

So, knowing this, do I still have the sad feeling during the perfect
condition of the long shadows?  Yes I do BUT there is now a
feeling of understanding  and........I know this sounds silly........
also a feeling of forgiveness associated with it.

Have you ever experienced past life feelings that you would
like to share?

  3. Can't say I've ever experienced anything like that. Not sure I buy the past life stuff as it doesn't add up population wise. 2 billion then, 7 billion now? hmmm But you just never really know. Find out for sure when we kick the bucket I guess. You've had some strange past lives though, the execution comes up a few times if I recall haha

I lost this twice. Dang. I just barely touch a key on this new computer and zip, everything is gone.

I read everything that I can get my hands on about the Roswell Crash of 1947. I love stories about aliens and esp. true ones. The govt.was right there immediately and took everything away and denied it ever happened. But no, after all that time, people who worked on the project are talking and it's most fascinating to me. One alien was still alive and started to run and a stupid military person shot him . What a pity. Think of the information they may have received. These aliens were small, about 4 ft. tall, no hair, eyes kinda like the grays and they didn't speak but communicated through thoughts. You know all this, I'm sure.
We think we are such hot spit and yet light-years behind other planets. Think of the distance they can cover. A psychic before Ken once said I was from Venus. Am I right in saying they know humans can't live there, at least without a little tweaking. LOL I wonder what I looked like then.

    4. Manzanita... what does he mean, "could have been"?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Well, all I know is we people know so very little that nothing would surprise me. Everything's possible. Even for men pretending to be cats thinking they're aliens. We all have our own truths, our own interpretation of whatever comes out way. It's something all humans have in common: we want to know who we are and where we come from.

    5. I suppose to someone living on Venus, everyone here is an alien. LOL

Yep, aliens are around. But covered up and up and up. Geez, being a super intelligent alien in a past life and then getting regulated down to a human must mean you pissed someone off.

  5. As soon as you started this story, I knew exactly where you were going: a past life explanation for the feeling. Why? Because I believe in reincarnation, and it is the only thing that makes sense to me.

    Two Things:
Like you, for as long as I can remember, I get a dread feeling when I step out of a pool, ocean, lake... basically any cold body of water. That moment when you are cold. But it is more than just being wet and (slightly) cold. It is DREAD. I know something bad happened to me after stepping out of some cold water, but I have no idea what. It has reached the point where I just won't go swimming any longer. Hot bath, hot shower... no problem. I suppose that is also easier because the towel is RIGHT THERE.

This other story didn't happen to me. Plus, I heard it a LONG TIME AGO. My first (very serious) boyfriend's sister believes in reincarnation and is also a bit psychic. She described a feeling much like yours after watching a curtain flutter when she was giving a talk (I forget where). School? It upset her so much that she lost her place in her speech. So, when she got past life information from someone she trusted (like you do Ken) he did a past life regression. She saw herself locked in a tower room (by her husband). I can't remember the reason. And the curtain fluttered at the window. And that was when she put two and two together. I think that day in her past life must have been significant. First day he put her there? Day she would die there? But the curtain fluttering meant something to her. And when it fluttered in this life... bam.

    1. Robin,
Great stories. You were so wise to figure that much out by yourself. It would be interesting for you to be regressed back and face the dread again so you would recognize it for what is is. I believe a lot of our phobias and quirks stem back to past lives. And I don't mean just lives on planet earth as we could be from planets or stars far away beyond our imagination.

I had many, many books on regression and the small children are the ones who still are often living in another life. But as they grow and mature, they forget and become one with this life. When my young grandson was riding with his father, they passed a certain spot in Helena and he casually looked out the window and said, "This is where I was killed with an arrow." My daughter and I were out and a llittle girl came running up to her, threw her arms around her legs and announced, "You are my mother.' The "now mother" was embarrassed and said, "she doesn't know what she's saying, etc. But truthfully, I do think they know what they are saying.
When I moved here I didn't have room for all my books so I tossed more than 400 books.... not all on reincarnation but on astrology and health too.
The BF's sister was fortunate to be regressed and find the cause for the fear of the curtain flutter. The evil people in the world today will certainly be tormented for their deeds in their future lives.

WOW.... that is quite the phrase that really makes one think. Mom's are so wise. I threw away most of my books on regression and past lives during this last move. I hated to but I had far too many books and no room. I can't recall the name of this one book but it was written by the mother of a little boy who knew all about WW1 from the time he was one yr old. When they took him to see an old fightter plane, he knew all the names and everything about the plane. He did die in the war in that past life and it was amazing how much he knew about the
war when he was very tiny. That book was so good it gave me chills.

  12. Wow, Manzi I just don't know. I used to have deja vu while in my middle school building all the time. And some other times too, but not much anymore. When I was young I just 'knew' when people were about to die and got in trouble a couple of times for saying so (and then having said people actually die). I am open to the ideas, but haven't ever researched too much. It seems to me that the times I've paid attention there are certainly signs. I need to get less busy and pay attention to things that are bigger than me. I am certain it would be interesting.

That would be a little spooky to know when someone is going to die. I bet your parents didn't know what to think.
I didn't connect my sad thoughts with a past life. I was afraid I was going cuckoo and when Ken said it was from a past life, I was relieved and understood. But the fears or memories we bring over from another life must be so sad and intense. When that sad feeling hits me, it is the most intense feeling I've ever had. There is such a longing, yearning for something and I never knew what It was.

  13. Past life feelings? I'm not sure. I've had dreams in the past, mostly of houses that I'm living in (in the dream) and these houses are so very familiar, yet I've never lived in any of them. One time, years ago, we'd recently moved to another city and there was a house I passed a few times (in car, bus, walking, I don't remember now which) and I instantly recognised it as a house from my dreams. After that the house dreams stopped and now I can't even remember which city that house was in, nor the interior, but I will always remember a flight of wooden steps leading down from the back of the house into a lush green garden.

I find dreams extremely interesting and I love that feeling of drifting off into sleep because I know I'm going to have dreams of new places. You explained your house dream so well that I can see it in my head, too. Who knows, but it's all probably connected...... I mean dreams and past lives. Often when we dream of places and people we don't know, they may be from a past life.

  16. Hi Carol
I had a huge stack of books on just that subject and I've had to let go of books as I don't have room in this little house and I don't want to leave that burden to my kids. From all my reading, it appears everyone has a soul and it returns someplace, although in all the books and reading, God, Jesus, etc was never mentioned by the people who were regressed. It was more like a university where we go for further studies. And accordingly, when people reincarnate, it seems they choose the life where they learn the lessons they need. If I truly believe that (and I guess I do) I don't want to interfere with another persons karma, assignment or whatever one would call it. Also length of time spent in human form. I knew parents who were fortunate enough to communicate with dead children and the children had chosen that time to return. I hear some people boast they have lived 2 or 3 lives. I smile because I'm positive they've lived a bazillion lives since time began and who can say when that was and on which constellation. But I could be wrong......just not for me.....in this lifetime. LOL You should write a book on that subject. I liked the plot of the old book .... the name, something like ....Over soul seven, where the soul was incarnated in 7 people at the ssme time. When I was real young, I guess I wanted to be a writer because I started writing a story around a similar plot. But I don't want to write anymore.... just friendly blogs. Ha I have always wanted to be reggressed to actually feel another life. I do have Ken who is pretty accurate, I'm sure. Marilyn and I laugh and laugh together. I've never laughed that hard with anyone. We met under curious circumstances and one day I asked Ken if she and I had other lives together. He went into his little trance and came out laughing. I asked what was so funny and he said he was looking in at us when we were both men in a prison during some revolution, in a filthy cave place but the two of us were laughing, laughing, laughing so much we made him laugh. I had never mentioned any of this to him before so I do always tend to believe him.

Thanks for the nice comment. I also love to talk about this subject.

Who really knows what happens when we take our last human breath. Many people think the curtain closes bang, no encores.
That could be it but I've seen so many situations that tend to make me believe the opposite. Many people write that when one dies, friends and relatives come to escort the dying person.

My husband was dying and I was at the foot of his bed keeping vigil when he suddenly opened his eyes, looked in my direction but seemed to look through me instead of at me. Then he said in a loud clear voice, "When does the celebration begin?" At that moment, I knew he had already left me but was talking to spirits behind me. He called a couple of men's names, names I had never heard him talk about and I knew he was talking to buddies from his youth. I had never heard him talk about a celebration. He would have asked, when would the party begin.
Just a short time later, he took the last breath and I knew he had joined his buddies for a celebration.
I think deja vu indicates that you really were in this situation before. Thank you for the kind comment.

I do know I can be swept away easily by intense emotions but this is due to the fact that I sense other people's thoughts, emotions and feelings. I sense them and they can affect me deeply. However, I've learned to set boundaries to protect my vulnerable self. It is an ongoing battle, though.

It is wise to distance yourself from other people's emotional problems. Years ago, I thought I could save the entire world. On the major holidays, I would bring street people into our home and tried to give them a good meal and a festive holiday. Many of them were delightful but also many of them stole things from our house and targeted it. Thank goodness my husband was an earth person and put a stop to it. I think I outgrew it LOL

  22. Very interesting post... I do believe that we 'can' and 'do' feel things from our past. There are times I can 'feel' a loved one near me... AND--things like certain smells remind me of someone in my past. For instance, my mother died in 1991. I sometimes smell her perfume --and feel as if she is close. That causes mixed emotions in me: sadness because she is gone, and Joy because I feel her around me....

  23. Dear Manzanita, thank you for sharing this story and for sharing also that Ken's explanation has filled you with forgiveness for those who executed your sons in a past life.

I, too, believe in reincarnation. I have been told that in most of my past lives I was a woman and that in many of those lives I chose to be alone and to give everything away. Sort of like my convent years in this life.

Also, I've been told by a psychic that in one past life I was a famous painter and quite famous and wealthy from the sell of my art. But I became a disdainful and arrogant person.

And so in this life the memory of that former self is strong and I so fear becoming that way again should I achieve fame as a writer that I put up stumbling blocks so that I will not succeed as a writer.

Finally, a psychic told me that in a past life I was a female shaman in the Everglades and I traveled from tribe to tribe healing. And that the people thought that I could assume the form of a panther. And in this life I so love cats. Peace.

You know.....all of that does seem to be connected somehow. If we could only find an intuitive that we could believe in or someone to regress us to the point of our "really" knowing this is the truth. I do trust Ken but I also know there are an awful lot of quacks out there, just making a quick buck. It is interesting that one told you that you gave "everything" away in most of your past lives. Ken didn't tell me this, but it shows up in my vedic astrology chart. I've rarely ever worked outside of the home in this life time but I have lived off of men. The Vedic teacher that I've nown for a very long time says that in my last reincarnation I was very wealthy but gave most of it away so this time, it is my good fortune to stay home and let the men support me. And I have never had any burning urge to work in this life time. Ken says we have all been both men and womeh and both black and white. I most surely believe that so isn't all this racial tension really silly.
A shaman would fit you perfectly, too.

  24. "...a feeling of forgiveness associated with it." Perhaps, it took your current life for that feeling to be. Long ago, I knew a woman who could read cards -- just regular playing cards -- and see past lives. She told me that this was the second go-around time with the Mama as my mother. The last time I had died when I was a very young child. I find that very sad for the Mama, as my older sister died at birth and my younger sister died when she was two.

  26. Wow, Manzanita! You have touched on a fascinating topic. But how sad to think that you had four sons executed in a previous life. I'm glad that you found an explanation and peace through your trusted psychic.

I'm not sure what happens when we die, but I connect with what Pema Chadron said: "I'm prepared too be surprised." I've thought a lot about reincarnation, and I have had some unsettling things told to me by psychic/medical intuitives. Sometimes I had a reading, and sometimes the insights came out of nowhere in a situation that I wasn't expecting to be around anyone with psychic abilities. Usually things about my father and first husband surface. I've been told several times by different psychics that I need to have a past life reading with an expert in the field and that they didn't feel skilled enough to handle it themselves.

But I've never mentioned nor has anyone ever mentioned the thing that makes me suspect, despite everything my rational scientific mind rejects, that reincarnation might happen. And that is my visceral reaction to hanging. I would not be the least bit surprised to discover that I had been hung in a previous life. I can't shake this feeling. Everyone always says that I am an old soul, and on some levels, I do feel that I have been through many lifetimes. We shall see!

    Have a happy Halloween!

It is always interesting to find the different reactions when a subject such as this is brought up. It's such an open end subject as we'll never know what the answer really is until we die. And then who are we gonna tell and say, "See I told ya so." Hahaha

  28. Hi Manzanita,

I think I might have been reincarnated and became the rather absent blogger.

Seriously, if what was told to you helps you work through those feelings you via a regression session, then that has to be a good thing.

I believe that we have a soul that experiences several lives with many a varied experience. I believe we cannot possibly learn what needs to be learned in just one lifetime.

  30. I have some weird quirks, but whether they're due to underlying memory hangovers from previous lives or not? I couldn't say for sure, but I certainly don't discount the possibility. Two wacky things: I think I know, deep-down, what it feels like to drown, and what it feels like to be shot. I have also experienced an intense feeling of coldness that's completely independent of the actual temperature, and darned near impossible to make go away, no matter how many blankets I pile on. The cold seems to come from somewhere deep inside of me. Weird, huh? This hasn't happened for quite a while, but it really used to freak me out.

My mother was very much into the occult, and had a certain amount of psychic abilities, which the old-timers attributed to her being born with a cawl (I think that's what they called it.) over her face when she was born. (a layer of skin)

Very interesting and yes I do believe that we can carry with us some traits of other lives. To always feel coldness would be very uncomfortable....could be from a past life or your thyroid could be just a little off. LOL Seriously, I don't know what to believe as how can any of it ever be proved. On the other side of the coin, I often think I do believe we were genetically engineered by the Annanoki. But would we ever find out?

It seems that somewhere, deep in my past, I've heard of a cawl but long forgotten until you just now mentioned it. I think most of us have more psychic abilities than we give ourselves credit for because we are so much consumed by the worldly issues.

      Thanks for the interesting comment.
