Into The Hearts of Millions

Hey Bloggie Friends
It is revival time
It's TAP time

My new (old) hobby. Tap Dancing. I was a terrible tap dancer because I pounded too hard, as in Flamenco. Tap is light and just barely skims across the floor.  Phooey on that tap teacher who showed me the door. I'm teaching myself with the help of videos and tap music.

Excuse me now,  I have to go practice so I can tap my way into the hearts of millions.

Adios Bloggie Friends

  2. YOU ARE AMAZING!!It must be those 5 mile walks with Cody. I can't imagine having enough muscles left to tap at our age!

  3. I am very heavy footed... even when I walk.

You stay so active... and that is a very good thing. Can't wait to see the videos of you tapping!!

  5. You are so great, you really are. You already danced into my heart with your flamenco posts two years ago.

We have 20 acres at 4,100 feet at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada and north of the Tehachapi mountains in California.

  6. Pat Hatt : Birds do it, bees do it.
Even educated fleas do. Let's do it,
    Let's rhyme with Pat.
    (You gotta sing that)

It takes thinking to rhyme and tell a story. It takes more thinking to rhyme and tell a story with humor. And you do it on your blog every day and you rhyme all the replies to comments with humor. What a gift.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your daily post.

  8. Paige : I'm trying, Paige.... I'm
    a-trying.

turquoisemoon : You said it, babe

Fishducky :Me either. Mine have turned to jello. Means we have to work all the harder. aaarrrhhh

Terry, My journey with Candida : Lead-foot that is called. Ha No you aren't. I bet you almost float. I was going to tape a little bit of my tap and then more later to see if I've improved BUT I can't find my video cameras. I know they were all together but I've searched this house and they seem to have evaporated. I do know they are here. That is the the good thing.

  9. Optimistic : Here I go and 5--6--7--8

Kitty : Honest she did. Now I'm laughing but she said I was disturbing everyone and perhaps I should re-think taking tap. I admit I was so used to the Flamenco footwork and most likely stamping too hard but she embarrassed me in front of the whole class.

A ballet teacher in Minneapolis showed me the door too. I had been living in Florida and faithfully taking ballet for 25 years. The closer to the equator, the more vibrant the colors I've noticed. The light pink ballet clothing was always in but for a while in Fl we wore the long sleeve/leg leotard in a brighter pink. I went back to Minneapolis ballet class wearing the pink leotard and the teacher screamed and told me to "take that horrid thing off."

I was older too and really doing well with the ballet. But she didn't care about my ability.... just the color of the clothing. I think she could have told me after class that it had to go..... but instead I went. Never went back to her class.
Oh yes, I've had my problems with dance classes.

  10. Inger : 4,100 feet. You are pretty high up, too. I love the countryside on your photos. I bet you really enjoy it there. So you have 20 acres of privacy. How wonderful. It looks so nice. I'm going to pinpoint it on a map. Thanks for telling me.

  11. Aha, and as I tap, tap, tap away on my keyboard, may your tap dancing make the hearts of those who see you, tap that little bit quicker.

Although, I've never actually seen a 'tap' dancing :)

  12. It took me about a year but I finally learned to do a time step. I could only keep it going for about a minute before I would lose the rhythm. I love to dance, but I'm best when I'm doing ballroom with a really good partner who can keep me on my feet!! :)

  13. You wanna buy a duck, but ended up with four tacky pink flamingos. Well, never mind; lots of things in life don't turn out the way we thought they would.

And as for your dancing, you may be able to tap into something.

    Blessings and Bear hugs.

  14. Take care not to fall off the tap when you are dancing!

Many years ago, about 50+, I wanted to learn dancing, so my dad sent me along to a class, but I wanted ballet and he sent me to tap, because that's what he liked. When I discovered it was tap and that I couldn't learn it in 5 minutes (I'm a little impatient)I left the class and went to the beach instead.
    Now, I wish I'd stayed.....it's a skill I'd like to have.

  15. You're officially my idol. I used to be a pretty decent tap dancer, but I haven't tried in years.

I just read your mitten post. Bless you.

  16. I LOVE it!!! You already know how I wanted to learn how to tap dance when I was a kid... now you're making me realize that it isn't too late for me to do it now! Hmmm, except for the fact that I have about as much grace as a bull elephant. Have fun with it! (I know you will.)

  17. Gary : Come to think of it, neither have I. Come join. We could be like Frick and Frack were to ice skating.

Mellodee : You said it. It really doesn't pay for a woman to take ballroom lessons because she can be only as good a dancer as her partner and absolutely NO better. And when you have this wonderful partner, a lady always knows where the gentleman wants her to place her feet. But unfortunately, with most of my partners, I know where I'd like to place my foot.

  18. Bear : I LOL at that one. Yes flamingo's are preeeeety tacky, especially in tacky wacky Montana. But what the heck, I'm tired of black and gray. How about a little pink to brighten our day.

So nice to hear from you. Winter is flying by and soon we can have thoughts of planting flowers and gardens.

Keep warm up there in the land of ice hockey and coins that our machines won't take. Ha
    Peace

  19. River: You are such a dear. I recognize your impatience. 5 minutes, huh? Did you ever get to ballet class? I have the ballet barres in my house from classes and I just recently began to practice that, a little too. I let muscles get stiff and at my age, it takes about as long as your 5 min tap learning. I am so sorry I did that. Now it's a painful struggle to try to get limber (even just a little) again.

But heck, if I can try learning it at my age, you surely can.
PS... Did you enjoy the beach?

  20. Carol : I'm finding it is actually relaxing, even though I'm struggling with the steps. Geez but I'm a clunky elephant. Maybe you would enjoy it again too. Remember the shim sham?
    Thanks

Susan : Never too late. Elephant? That is just what I called myself to Carol (above). I am really struggling but it gives me much pleasure. Get yourself some tap
shoes.... hey, I had bought a new pair cause I couldn't find my old ones but found them on all the moving this summer. They are broken in so I'm using them. I'd gladly give you the new pair. About a size 9 but you look tiny so I suppose that is way too big. I was looking for someone to pass them on to or they go to the thrift store.I'm not keeping any duplicates anymore. Let me know.

  21. Al : I love those old dudes. I'm relearning the shim sham..... an old tap dance from the 20's. At the end of all their shows, they would ask anyone or everyone from the audience to come on stage and everyone knew and danced the Shim Sham. Quite a spectacle. That was more my Mother's time. She wanted to be a dancer, too, but then the depression hit and then I guess I ended her career. Happens but my Grandmother raised me. Ha My Mother was a beautiful dancer.

  23. Fred Astaire called, he wants to duet with you when you are ready. cm
My spouse studied ballet and always said tap was more difficult.
I miss those old movies with tap in them, and have seen the old Fred and Ginger films many times.
    Take care of yourself.

  24. Phioxee :Dancing is great fun and good for your health. Thank you for stopping.

Anthony : Oh, my goodness. I will triple my practice time. Anything for a chance to dance with Fred. Ginger and Fred made a winning couple but he had many dancing partners. I've watched all of his films many times, too. I still do if I happen to find one on the tube.

Your wife was fortunate to study ballet. My daughter and I went to a ballet performance last week. There is a ballet teacher here who attracts good students to study with her. It was a wonderfully stimulating evening.

  26. My granddaughter had a choice of judo, ballet, piano and I forgot what else. My daughter wanted her to take ballet because she thought it would help KC learn some grace. Nope! It had to be tap. KC fell in love with it and we really enjoyed watching her tap her heart out.
